Camp Dance

Remember when…
Prime real estate meant getting the top bunk?
Bug repellent was the preferred scent?
The DJ was also the water ski instructor?
Tevas and Umbros were considered high fashion?  (actually, I don’t recall such a day and age)
A hand written letter was the only form of outside communication?

This past weekend we saddled up our horses, dusted off our dancing shoes and headed toward the mess hall for Camp Dance 2011!

Each year, Honey and I, along with Sister and her Mister, look forward to a rollicking good time at this annual fundraiser benefiting Camp Twin Lakes.  This year’s event moved from Zoo Atlanta to the World of Coke and was just as smashing an evening as it ever was.

While sipping on bug juice and leisurely touring the exhibits, viewing the always fantastic 4D movie and tasting the interesting Coca-Cola concoctions from around the world, we gobbled up loads of camp themed bites like corn dogs, sliders, mini grilled cheeses, tiny loaded potatoes and (a true childhood fave) marshmallow and peanut butter sandwiches.  Delish!  After topping all that off with moon pies, chocolate cheesecake popsicles, rice krispie treats, twinkies, (divine) s’mores, and mini red velvet and oreo cupcakes, we immensely enjoyed the tunes of Bobby and the Aristocats, dancing well into the night!

Camp Twin Lakes is a not-for-profit organization that provides life changing recreational, therapeutic and educational programs to kids in Georgia facing serious illnesses and other physical, emotional and life challenges.  This event never disappoints and generally results in being able to send over one-hundred deserving children to camp.  It’s truly a ridiculously fun way to help others in need, especially when we have been so blessed ourselves.

Yee-haw y’all!  We’re already giddy about next year.
xoxo
