Face Lift

Y’all, I am beyond excited to welcome you to the newly redesigned Dixie Delights.  I’ve got my very own URL (bookmark dixiedelightsonline.com), I’ve moved from blogger to wordpress and I’m in the process of standing it all up with a new visual identity, new navigation and tons more features.  Whew!

As Mother can attest, I’ve spent hours upon hours working on this over the last week.  I planned to hire people to do things for me – like the visual identity and migration – but patience has never been a virtue of mine so I just dove right in.  There have been ugly-cry tears and jump-out-of-my-chair cheers in the course of making all of this happen.  I know more than I ever wished to know about domain registration, web hosting, templates, plugins and widgets.  And I feel like I’ve only scratched the tip of the ice burg.

There will certainly be growing pains over the coming days and you might notice that not everything is completely ship shape.  For example, I can’t figure out how to turn comments back on for old posts, my social media icons are not linked up and loads of other little nit-picky things are in the queue.  If you notice anything broken, I’d love to hear about it at [email protected].

Once I get the basics straightened out, I have so many FUN things to share – a huge giveaway of brand new designs from my shop, our garage organization part 2, and so much more.

Thank you all, sweet readers, for hanging with me for all these years.  Your comments, e-mails, laughs, support and kind words truly mean the world to me.

xoxo

  1. Amanda, it is darling! I saw this last night when all of the old posts showed up in my feed & wondered what was up. I love it! You did a wonderful job! xo

    1. Thank you – it has been super fly by the seat of my pants but I’m so happy with the progress thus far.

  2. Your new site is great (so was your old one) but I miss the pictures of your old house. Love all the decor ideas you post!

    1. Yes!!! I will add that in! Thanks for letting me know it was missing. I really appreciate it. xo

  3. It looks great, Amanda! I have followed you over the past 2 1/2 years and enjoyed every single post. I am your age with 2 boys about the same age, hubby and dog, so I get a kick out of all your family posts, especially, because we are living the same thing. Congrats on the new design and thanks for letting us join you in your adventures :)

  4. Love the new site design, Amanda! I’m partial to navy with pops of color myself so the color scheme is right up my alley. It’s been so fun to follow along with your blog and your life and it will be exciting to see the new features. You deserve so many kudos for doing this all yourself!

    1. Yes!!! When I starting thinking about colors I just looked in my closet – lots of pinks, aquas, greens with navy!! Thank you Meg!! xo

  5. Looks good! I would say I found your blog about 6 months ago and it is now one of my favorite reads. My husband and I (no littles yet), go to Disney once a year so I think I first found you through that connection.

Great job on the website. That’s a pretty serious DIY!

  6. Amanda-
I love the new look! I made the Blogger to WP switch a few months ago, as well. There have definitely been some growing pains, but I’m very happy with how things are moving along now. If you have any questions, feel free to email me–I’d be happy to share what I’ve learned!

  7. Love the new design! It’s really fresh and happy, just right for you and your blog. I do miss the search feature though….was looking for a recipe this morning from a Sunday Supper! You will get it all together soon!

    1. Thank you!!! And thanks for letting me know!!! Search is currently on the side bar if you scroll down a little bit :-) Still getting everything straightened out but love the feedback. xo

  8. I absolutely love the new look! It couldn’t be more you than if Lilly herself came down and asked you what she could design for you. I’ve had my own domain for a couple of years now but am so on the fence about switching to WordPress. Would love to hear updates on the transition and issues you’ve encountered/conquered. Can’t wait to travel on this next leg of the journey with you!

  9. What else but Lily??? Love the new page and I must admit I am a bit jealous. One day I may splurge and get my own blog spruced up by someone who knows how to do it because I have no clue!! And I look forward to your giveaway as your paper products are just divine.

  10. you are one of my first stops each day (at work) and help me ease into the chaos of morning. thanks for that! i love the new look, i can’t wait to see more.

  11. Long time reader (first time commenter) but I love the re-design! Way to dive right in and make it happen! It is oh-so southern!

  12. My hat’s off to you for tackling this on your own but if anyone can do it, you can! I didn’t see anything wrong with your old page but it’s always nice to have a change. Goodness, I could certainly stand to update my blog as it’s been the same for several years now but it’s just not on my radar to upgrade it yet. Maybe one day…..

  13. Oh, this is so pretty!! Great job!
I moved to WordPress earlier this year…
Blogging is one thing…navigating & setting up a blog over there is something else entirely! (It’s like we deserve shirt that says “I survived the changeover to WP”) ;)
So happy for you & looking forward to reading your upcoming adventures!

  14. LOVE this new design! The colors are so beautiful and so you! Your blog is amazing and one that I check first each day. :-) Thanks for sharing everything you do. Your are such an inspiration.

  15. I love the new look. I don’t know how you managed WP so quickly on your own. I have to have someone host for me. To this day I still can’t figure out my visitor feed! :) Great job!!!!
