A Decade

It is so incredibly hard to believe that a decade has passed since we welcomed John into our lives!  When this squirming, bright eyed 8lb bundle of joy was placed into my arms ten years ago I really had no idea how becoming a mother would forever change me.  Raising this child and walking this life with him by my side is a joy like none other.

At ten, he’s so very bright and inquisitive.  He’s well-mannered and polite when out and about, but is ALL BOY at home.  He’s athletic and competitive and really only likes to do things he thinks he’s the best at.  But, he’s also so very happy to see others succeed and is quick to celebrate their wins.  John is sensitive and perceptive beyond his years.  He would never intentionally hurt another and he has an innate ability to just say and do the right thing, even as a young child. He is abundantly self-confident and continues to be strong willed – two qualities that sometimes make parenting him difficult but, at the same time, two qualities that make me think he will be quite successful in life.  John has brought immeasurable joy and LIFE to our lives for the last ten years.  I am so proud of the young man he has become, I treasure every minute of every day with him, and I look forward to celebrating many, many more birthdays – and everydays – with him.

We are headed off for turkey at Honey’s mama’s soon and will celebrate with the traditional Thanksgiving tacos :-) for dinner with my family.

The happiest of Thanksgivings to you and yours!

xoxo

  1. Happy Birthday to John, hope it’s a wonderful day! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. How funny, because our family will be having Thanksgiving (chicken) tacos tonight too. Have a wonderful long weekend!

  2. Happy Birthday to John. Hope it’s wonderful for him. He’s been added to the list of possible beaus for the future for Priss. He’s Catholic, Southern, and understands monograms.
