A Perfectly Pink Room for CeeCee

I could literally squeal with excitement over this next little project – collaborating with Sister on a perfectly pink room for CeeCee.  While our styles are a little different, mine leaning towards ruffly and fru fru and hers being more understated and neutral, we are both decidedly traditional, we adore antiques and we fill our homes with things that we love.  I think together we will really end up with a lovely and inspiring space for our best girl.  Now, CeeCee is a girl who knows what she wants and she has four things on her wish list so far – a real bed, lots of pink, a tea set and a basket for books.

We spent a day last week shopping around Atlanta.  It was SO much fun to have a girly day of furniture, bedding and accessory shopping.  These are two of my faves from the incredible Restoration Hardware store in Buckhead.

She was so genuinely exited to be shopping for her big girl room!!  Can’t you tell?

We have narrowed down hundreds of texts, exchanges and finds from our shopping excursion into two overall mood boards.  They are very similar, with the key difference being the fabric.

Choice 1: Ikat Fabric

This is the best pic we could find of this great fabric.  It has bright pink, light pink, touches of light aqua and a deeper brown color.  The fabric would be used for curtains for the two windows and as cushions on the kid sized ghost chairs.

Choice 2: Trellis Fabric

This lovely pink trellis fabric would be used on the curtains and seat cushions, like the ikat.  It also pairs well with a lovely floral wallpaper which we would use to line the back of a gorgeous antique glass front display cabinet.

CeeCee Room2

Sister already has some great pieces for the room and we have decided on the other key things:

  • Daybed from Restoration Hardware (to purchase)
  • Matching dresser from Restoration Hardware (to purchase)
  • Small antique pie crust table to be used as play table with kid sized ghost chairs
  • Crystal chandelier
  • Antique glass front cabinet to display keepsakes – will line with wallpaper or paint inside to brighten it up (not pictured)
  • Small dressing table with mirror above (not pictured) – need chair or bench
  • Antique cradle for her dolls and doll house
  • Rug from Pottery Barn

And here’s what we would love your thoughts on:

  • Fabric choice 1 or 2 – HELP!!!
  • We each chose one of the pieces of pictured art, and we each love the one we chose best :-)  We will use both, but which one should go over the bed?
  • Lamp or two sconces over the dresser?  Or picture light?  Space will also play a factor.
  • Bedding – have you seen any lovely pink and white bedding?  We love the look of a quilt with a duvet.
  • Chair or bench for the dressing table?  We found the pink upholstered chair and the furry topped bench and love both!

We are so excited to see what y’all come back with.  When we were at an impasse on the fabric, Sister said “take it to the blog”!

  1. I have absolutely no input, other than to say – my choice of the two fabrics would depend on what was found for the bedding. The furniture/lighting/everything is LOVELY and I cannot wait to see it all come together! xoxo

    1. I know – we are so chicken and egg here. Decide on fabric first then bedding??? Or bedding then fabric??? Ahhhh! :-)

  2. What a beautiful room! that looks like so much fun. For fabric, I really like the trellis. It feels more timeless to me though both are beautiful. If you’re set on where the dresser will go, I’d stay with sconces. They would allow more space on the table, one less thing to knock over. I think a bench would allow a little more flexibility for a little girl. I have not seen pink bedding. Have a great time. I can’t wait to see the final pictures!

  3. I like both fabrics – could they be used together?? Maybe the pink and white for curtains and the ikat for accessories. If I had to choose between the two, I think the pink and white would win.
Between the lamp and sconces, I prefer the sconces; but, instead of the lamp or sconces, how would buffet lamps look?

  4. I like the first fabric and art over the bed. The dress looks nicer and more in place over the side table or whatever it is. For me, the 2nd fabric and the rug pattern are too matchy matchy and the first pairing work better together.

  5. 1) I love both fabrics! If I HAD to choose, I like the colors in the Ikat better (because I like a lot of color), but they are both adorable. I think I agree with the comment to find the bedding first otherwise you are going to limit yourselves more.

    2) I like the pink art over the bed – the dress ties in with the dresser more (IMO).

    3) I like the lamp more – but I have more modern vs antique taste and it sounds like you ladies like antique/vintage so maybe the sconces are more your style (they seem more antique to me…)

    4) My favorite inspiration for bedding is Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Teen, The Company Store, and just googling exactly what you are looking for :)

    5) Bench for dressing table!

Can’t wait to see the finished room :)

  6. Amanda, the wallpaper in the 2nd photo, is what my daughter used on one wall in our little granddaughter’s nursery. It is absolutely beautiful (from Anthropoligie) and she painted the other 3 walls a very, pale shade of green. Of course, the highlight in Tallulah’s nursery is the crystal chandelier that my daughter ordered from Murano in Italy. Plus, her crib bedding is the palest of pinks from Restoration Hardware Baby. I absolutely love what you have picked for your little niece!

  7. Go with a white duvet outlined in shocking pink with a shocking pink monogram in the middle and fabric choice #2. I also prefer the lamp over the sconces. Whatever you choose will be perfect.

  8. Oh what a fun dilemma to have! I think all the choices are beautiful but I lean more towards #2. If your sister really wants to splurge, look at the Posh Tots site for the bedding. Can’t wait to see this room come together! So exciting (especially for this fellow boy mom)!
    Shelley

  9. Amanda, I love fabric #2. Love the pink upholstered chair. If you want to keep some fur you could make some cushions for the ghost chairs. Sconces are so permanent I would do a lamp. Whatever y’all do it will be beautiful–what a fun project. She’s a precious little girl!

  10. What a fun project! I so hope to do one of these with my sisters one day. All boys in this house!

I love the timeless feel of the second fabric. I’m a sucker for trellis and think it looks beautiful with the Anthro wallpaper. If you do the trellis, then add in the floral in the back of the display chest, I would add in mostly white bedding, with touches of pink…in the trim, or with gingham or stripe sheets. Maybe white bedding with a pink scallop edge, and then a blush pink quilt?

For pink bedding I would look at Serena & Lily (maybe the scallop quilt with the scroll bedskirt?), Biscuit Home, and Anthropologie.

I like the fluffy bench seat for the dressing table too!

  11. Do check out beddys.com for Cee Cee’s bedding. Their design, “Chic White” with shirring and ruffles is adorable. I’ve never seen the product in person but after watching the owners’ video on their website – it seems of a high quality. The design is a one piece zip up bedding (she can make the bed herself). The underside of the top layer is minky and when unzipped, a minky extension flap can be pulled out to cover the zipper teeth and add width to the top cover. You can still add a throw for more layering.

  12. Well, I actually like all of the replies so far. The trellis fabric is timeless and I do think it depends on the bedding but I love the ikat for this reason alone: it totally adds another dimension to the whole room. Accents the stained furniture and the dollhouse along with the chandelier. But I probably would only use for the draperies depending on the bedding.

  13. Love the look of sconces. Chair might be more stable than a stool.
First fabric is more vibrant..but to me, second set looks more “cee cee”.

  14. Love the Ikat fabric best with the painting over the bed!! It’s all so beautiful!! But the rug may be my favorite;)

  15. You gals are off to a great start and I can’t wait to see this unfold! I bet your mom is so excited for this project!
I like the wallpaper in #2 for its timeless, yet modern appeal.
Definitely the bench for now…gotta have the fun fur and much easier for a tiny princess. :-) Later, the chair can be added with a fabric that can be used throughout that will update the room for the next stage. (But grab that chair and store it!)
The softer artwork will contrast nicely with the dresser and the other way around over the bed. One of Sister’s signature silhouettes would look so dreamy with your motif.
Lastly, I always love a cozy lamp on a dresser and will happily help search for pink bedding. :-)
The photos of CeeCee shopping are darling. It’s all so pretty and girly in her Wonderful World of Pink!

  16. Love number 2! Love the feature of the dress framed. I have seen this with christening gowns but never larger pieces. My nieces children all dance and she is also a dance teacher. What a fun idea to frame each of there first recital pieces:)

Can’t wait to see it all done. I think CeeCee should host a tea for all your followers:)

I agree with previous comment…I would look for bedding before committing to fabric.

  17. In regards to fabric, I love the trellis, timeless and a bit southern. The ikat is pretty but so trendy. As for the art, love both…the pink for over the bed, but question not putting a mirror above the dresser…she is a girl afterall and they love their mirrors as they grow up. As far as lighting, would depend on what is chosen to go over the dresser. I love PB’s pick stitch quilts as they hold up so well.

  18. I’m an ikat girl all the way…I like how the brown in it ties into the dark wood furniture pieces. Otherwise they seem a little heavy in a room full of frills & pink :)

  19. PS. Alright, I didn’t want to be the one to say it and end up in Dixie County Jail…so thank you, Courtney above. We will all trade our input for just even a peak at Sister’s home! How can we possibly give educated opinions without seeing the full scope of what we working around?!

  20. CeeCee is precious. Both options are darling but I have to go with option two! I love both the bench and chair but would go with the bench to add playfulness and texture. I’m stumped on whether to use a lamp or sconces. I lean towards the scones but would choose based on space available. For the artwork, I like the sweet dress and plates over the bed but only if the bedding does not compete. Either way is just adorable and so fitting for such a precious girl. Can’t wait to see what y’all choose!

  21. I love the ikat fabric!! But would you not use the floral wallpaper if you went with the ikat?? Because I love that wallpaper, and that alone might force me to choose the pink trellis. For her bed, I love using a white matelasse coverlet and sham for my girls and then added pops of color with a duvet folded at the bottom of the bed and/or a custom bedskirt or dust ruffle. I vote for the pink canvas above the bed and the dress above the vanity/dressing table/ :)

  22. Both options are beautiful! But I Love the trellis fabric and pink chair. Love reading your blog and find it so inspiring with all the fun you create around holidays and special events for your family.

  23. I love everything about number 2 except I would switch the bench out for the chair…I just love the antiquey touch of that sweet pink chair. I love the dress with played over the bed, the pink art over the dresser with the lamp. And I adore the trellis fabric with the wall paper option!! CeeCee’s room will be precious!

  24. I love this!! I too am dreaming about my sweet babies big girls room. I have several projects in the works and am on the hunt for perfect big girl bedding.

My thoughts for what to pick for Miss CeeCee’s room? I say let the princess herself pick! Put the choices in front of her and see which one she likes best. :-)

Can’t wait to see how it turns out. Both of you have flawless taste so I know its going to be a show stopper!

  25. What great advise from everyone responding. As for me, I love number 2. The sconces. The monogrammed art over the bed and even though I really like the furry bench, I’m in love with the chair. And what a lovely table and ghost chair selection for tea parties. Great job ladies. I bought a beautiful pink and white quilt from pottery barn kids a few years ago and I’ve always been very happy with the quality of their quilts. Not sure what their selection is now. I can’t wait to see the finished product. Thanks for sharing.

  26. ikat. love the brown which helps ground all the pink.
framed dress over the bed- kinda seems ‘canopy’ or ‘crown-like’
bench-keeps the space fresh and youthful. chair is a tad older unless crazy fun fabric on it.
also easy to twirl around on bench to talk to other peeps in the room. w/o pulling a chair out.

  27. oops- i didnt realize that the day bed is the bed bed. so i change my vote to the cloud-like pink painting over the bed. dreamy and soft. the dress over dresser pumps the interest for the dresser area.

  28. Hi! Upon careful consideration I like #2. The trellis is more timeless and more neutral – lending to your sister’s taste. You can also use it when she gets older and have more color comb possibilities – mint, purple, and blue would all work well with it….if and when she may want to change her room. As would grey for a more sophisticated look. I like the lamp…again…if the sconces are hardwired, you would be stuck with that furniture placement. I think that you would have to see the art placement in person….I adore the map dress!!! Here are a few links: for lighting that would give a nod to the sconces – http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/pink-dahlia-chandelier/?pkey=e%7Ckids%2Bpink%2Bchandelier%2Blighting%7C58%7Cbest%7C0%7C1%7C24%7C%7C5&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH And this is great bedding….http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/organic-pom-pom-duvet-cover-girl/?pkey=e%7Cruffle%2Bbedding%7C117%7Cbest%7C0%7C1%7C24%7C%7C9&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH This would look cute with the it…http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/tassel-duvet-cover/?pkey=e%7Cruffle%2Bbedding%7C117%7Cbest%7C0%7C1%7C24%7C%7C19&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH I have this is our nursery in white….the pink may be off for your room….http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/ruffle-duvet-cover-girl/?pkey=e%7Cruffle%2Bbedding%7C117%7Cbest%7C0%7C1%7C24%7C%7C1&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH

  29. What a lucky girl. Her room will be adorable! I love choice #2 as the trellis pattern is so classic. I think the pink buffalo plaid comforter from ikea would look great with either the trellis or Ikat print. I agree with another commenter that a mirror would be pretty in the room, perhaps a tremeau.

  30. Both options are lovely, and you wouldn’t go wrong with either. I like both fabrics, but I think that the trellis is a little more soothing and timeless. I like the dress artwork over the day bed. So I guess I vote for option #2, but I would add the pink chair from option #1. What a fun project. I look forward to seeing what you end up choosing. CeeCee is blessed to have such a loving family!

  31. Would love to know how you make the inspiration boards – a video perhaps ;)

My input – both boards are lovely, i think #2’s fabric is more classic. I fear Ikat is on the way out. I prefer the pink art over the bed and the dress over the dresser. I would put lamps on the dresser rather than sconces as lamps allow you to move the furniture and change the layout. Sconces would be so limiting when it comes to layout but I am sure would look beautiful. Bedding suggestions – other than the usual some really special brands with lots of flexibility to customize are Leontine Linens and Matouk. Pine Cone Hill may be more reasonably priced but offer more options than PB or RH. And finally, chair or bench…I say bench. You already have 2 chains at the pie crust table so I suggest mixing it up a bit, going with a lower profile and using a bench. Hope that is some help!

  32. Fabric #2.
    Chair….more for a princess.
    Dress over bed.
Picture light. But lamp will cast nice glow.
Bedding…my all time favorite classic…white eyelet.

  33. #2
    dress over dresser
lamps (I think I personally have a lamp problem they are everywhere in my house, haha!)
It’s my dream to search for perfect pink and white bedding. So many boys in this family. I’m on the hunt now =)

  34. I LOVE fabric 2. Oh my word. She is such a lucky little girl! I’m a little jealous of all that pink. I only get to decorate for all the men in my house.

  35. EEK! I’m late to the party but my opinion is that you need to decide on the bedding before you decide on the fabric. That will likely influence which fabrics you choose and what goes over the bed. I also think a lamp will be more versatile than a pair of sconces. Girls have opinions and CeeCee may want to rearrange. I know I did all the time when I was young (still do)! The room is going to be precious!

  36. I vote for the ikat!! Gives you a few more colors to pull from/accent with. I also like the dress over the dresser. So cute and fun…can’t wait to see what y’all come up with!
