I Love Basin {Giveaway}

UPDATE: This giveaway is now closed.  The winner  is Kim who commented “My favorite beauty product is Philosophy’s Purity makeup remover. I use it everyday and it removes everything, including mascara. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry, it’s fairly inexpensive and lasts a long time. You can find it in sample sizes at Sephora or Ulta if you just want to give it a try. I love it!”  IF this is you, email me to claim your prize!!!!

Back when Bestie M and I celebrated my 40th with a stay at the Grand Floridian, we found ourselves in the Basin shop one evening.  We were smelling all of the amazing bath products and just became enthralled with the shampoo and conditioner bars.  I’ll admit… they seemed a bit odd to us but the ladies that work in there ensured us that they were fantastic!  We both ended up leaving with a shampoo and conditioner bar in the grapefruit scent (exclusive to Grand Floridian).

Well, it’s now been seven months and I will NEVER go back to regular shampoo as long as these can exist in my life!!!  Bestie M either!!!!  They have the most wonderful smell, incredible lather and they seriously leave my hear cleaner, softer and shinier than anything I’ve ever used.  And I’ve used everything from Bumble and Bumble to Aveda to Suave.  You do have to work the conditioner into your hair a little bit, but it’s nothing too hard to handle :-)  I have also tried the Egg Noggin scent and Almond Coconut and adored both of them.  You can purchase the hair bars in retail stores (there is one at Disney Springs and in the Grand Floridian) and online.  I also LOVE the price point – $8 per bar OR $25 for a mix and match set of 4.  They last me about 3 months.  The only real down side is you have to remember to take them out of the shower every time because if they sit in water they will turn to goo.  Sadly, I know this.

As a total side and before I forget, I originally went in Basin for a couple Mickey bath bombs to take home to the littles.  I won’t get in the big blue tub to try them out, but the littles have no problem with it.  The bombs smell SO good, let out little Mickey confetti and fizz up wonderfully.

  1. My favorite beauty product is Chanel kohl eyeliner in graphite. I’ve been using it since college and it’s the only eyeliner that doesn’t end up on my eyelid after a few hours. The color is the perfect shade of dark gray and not as severe as black. Kind of pricey, but lasts a long time. I’d love to try these bars!

  2. Laura Gellar Love Me Dew Lip Crayon- creamy, beautiful colors. I’ve never been a lipstick gal, but her lip crayons have changed my makeup routine forever. My favorite color is Fig Prosecco, but I also adore Cranberry (red) in the winter, Watermelon Cooler in the summer, and Turkish Café (dark berry) in the fall. For work I wear the Fig. They smell good too! Her other makeup is fabulous as well and everything is very reasonably priced. Best prices are directly on her website, but retailers like Sephora, Macy’s, and Ulta also carry her line.

  3. My favorite beauty product is probably Chi dry shampoo. A very close second place goes to Estee Lauder Sumptuous mascara!

  4. My favorite lip gloss EVER is Mary Kay’s Fancy Nancy! I wear alone and on top of all my lipstick colors! Its the finishing touch every girl needs. I give it as gifts every year and all just love as much as I do! My Mary Kay rep laughs at me when I order 10-15 at a time!

  5. My favorite beauty product line is Oil Of Olay. Once I commented on a dear friends mother’s beautiful complexion and she sweetly smiled at me and said ” I only use Oil Of Old Lady” works for me ! I am intrigued by these bars and would love to try them. Thank you for the giveaway and a chance to win.

  6. m-61 PowerGlow Peel, which is sold at the Bluemercury store that recently opened on Broughton Street! (Also, I’m already subscribed to emails!)

  7. my favourite beauty product by far is the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. I slather it on before long haul flights and you arrive with the best skin – also amazing on lips if skiing even used it on sunburn and it did the trick – I already subscribe and live in the U.K. But my dearest friend lives in NewnanGA so if I was lucky enough to win I’d love to send there please
Ps love your blog we did a ‘Dixie delight’ tour of serenbe because of your feature!!!

  8. I’m also on the Oil of Olay bandwagon!! Been using it for at least 25 years now. I love that they never mess with the formula. So this bar conditioner thing is genius because I could stop having to include liquid conditioner in my quart sized bag for travel!! Thanks for sharing.

  9. My favorite beauty product is Benefit’s They’re Real mascara. I’ve tried many different brands over the years, but now I’ll never use anything else if I can help it.

Thanks again for a chance at this giveaway.

  10. Smashbox foundation primer. The older I get the more I have to hide. It prevents my foundation (Estee Lauder double wear, which I also love) from settling in my “creases”.

  11. I have recently fallen in love with two new deodorants. I know this sounds silly, who could LOVE a deodorant?! But depending on your preference, either Estèe Lauder Youth Dew (roll-on) or Native (solid), they could be life-changers! They are both really great products for someone who needs good deodorant! Native comes in a handful of scents, and I have tried the Lavender & Rose and Coconut & Vanilla.

  12. I just started using Rodan and Fields skin care and I love it. Makes my 40-something skin look amazing! I am also a long-time email subscriber!

  13. I love makeup and try out different brands all the time. The one constant though is the Maybelline mascara in the pink and green tube thats been around forever. I’ve tried lots of others but to me this is the best! I love your blog and am a subscriber.

  14. I love the Moroccan oil mousse! Since chemo I’ve had trouble finding products that aren’t too heavy for my hair. I would love to try the shampoo and conditioner bars. I’m always looking to try something great for my hair!

  15. I can’t live without my Smith’s Rosebud Lip Salve. I’m a huge fan of all the Olay Regenerist products and Jergens BB Body Cream.

  16. Have been an email subscriber for awhile now and look forward to your post each morning. You bring a little southern to my life as I left SC for Vegas nine years ago. Almost like a visit back home.

  17. My new favorite beauty line is Younique’s new Royalty skin care line. I especially love the detoxifying mask, the Uplift beauty serum, and the Instant Uplift. I subscribe to your blog by email. I would love to win this giveaway! Thank you for the chance to win! xoxo

  18. Have been using Oil of Olay and Cover Girl products since I was a teenager. Will be sixty my next birthday. Works for me. Thanks for a chance to win.

  19. Amanda, thanks for always keeping it exciting! After crossing the 40-mark, I can swear by MAC Prep & Prime (under eyes). It literally erases bags.

    Thanks for the exciting giveaway.

  21. I love Bare Minerals Powder foundation…lightweight and easy to use. thanks for the best blog ever…I have been a subscriber for years!

  22. I am already a subscriber too. I love Burt’s Bees products and cant live without their Moisturizing Lip Balm. I use it every day under my lipstick but apply usually a few times a day. I keep one in my purse, bathroom, car and always have a couple extra because I really can’t live without them. They have some really nice flavors as well.

  23. hmmmm fav beauty product?? I’m pretty cheap and not into spending too much on beauty products (I also work from home so I think this has a bit to do with it). I will go with my mascara – I use a cheap drugstore Maybelline Lash Sensational and it is so good!! Thanks for sharing this new product with us – very interesting!

  24. My favorite is good old coconut oil — I use it to condition my hair, as a moisturizer, and to take off my eye makeup.

  25. I adore your blog & I have been a subscriber for years! I love Jergens self tanner in the light to medium shade & would LOVE trying out your latest beauty discovery!

  26. My favorite beauty product is Lush Dry Shampoo. I love the smell and it gives me an extra day between shampooing.

  27. My favorite beauty product is Philosophy’s Purity makeup remover. I use it everyday and it removes everything, including mascara. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry, it’s fairly inexpensive and lasts a long time. You can find it in sample sizes at Sephora or Ulta if you just want to give it a try. I love it!

  28. I love Basin at Walt Disney World too! It’s one of my favorite, with all their wonderful soaps and bath balms. Their body lotion is the Best!

  29. I’m loving reading all the comments! I don’t seem to have a favorite (thus the need to read the comments), but my mom just turned me on to Chanel’s lipstick that has a color on one side and a gloss on the other. It actually stays on! People think I don’t wear makeup (I do EVERYDAY!), because it seems to disappear right away. I’d love to try this bar idea, especially for traveling!

  30. I LOVE Basin!!! The smell that comes out the doors at Disney Springs is fabulous!! I love their sugar lip scrubs! It is fantastic to smooth out chapped lips or to remove the bright red lip stick after a night out!!

  31. My fave beauty product is my Mia Sonic facial brush. I had no clue what it was when my sweet, younger sister gave it to me for my birthday a few years ago, and I accused her of giving me an “old lady gift” in my mid-40’s! Now I can’t live without it!

  32. I love the Roden & Fields skin care. Makes my skin feel awesome.
I already receive emails when you post and I love your blog.

  34. My fave products are black eyeliner and mascara….can’t live or leave home w/o them! ; )
The Basin goodies sound so fun!

  35. Absolute all time favorite beauty product is HiQ Cosmetics facial serum. Made from totally organic products. Leaves your skin feeling smooth and tight.

  36. Since I don’t wear makeup I don’t have experience with a lot of beauty products, but I love the Obagi skin care line. The eye cream is awesome!

  37. EEK!! I LOVE a good smelling hair product!! I have super long blonde hair and I love it when my littles comment on how yummy Mommy’s hair smells. My favorite hair products, at the moment, are Bed Head Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo, so I don’t have to wash my hair every day AND Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Flatiron Express smoothing lotion. It keeps my hair super straight and smells lovely.

I just love it that you give away fun things!! And I am loving all of Sister’s Ceecee pics from DW. So adorable!!

  38. I actually have 2 faves. My Clarisonic and Stila One Step Color Correct. Like Amy Pracht, I am loving Christian Dior Airflash foundation. I would love to try your new beauty finds. I really need something for my hair!!! Can’t find anything I truly love and makes my hair look great. Thanks for another wonderful giveaway opportunity Amanda!

  39. I have been a long time subscriber to Dixie Delights, however, I usually can’t wait for the email and head on over to your delightful blog!

  40. I love Kneipp bath crystals in Sweet Dreams. They are every bath takers DREAM! Also since you aren’t a bath person I like Bite Beauty Line and define lip primer.

  41. I’ve been a Pantene user since the 70s, back when you could only buy it at department store cosmetic counters! This stuff looks pretty nifty though?

  42. I’m signed up for your posts and love every single one of them. I’m also a Disney lover and visit every other week or so as I live in Florida. I’ve stayed at nearly every resort except the Grand Floridian. It is now on the top of my list. I’m totally excited to try these shampoo & conditioner bars. They sound amazing. Thanks for the great giveaways!

  43. I love the Boots Organic products! They are wonderful! I also love Urban Decay eyeliner, Maybelline Mascara (pink & green tube) and Aveda Hand Repair. Extra wonderful in winter.

These hair products sound wonderful! I’d love to give them to my daughter. She has longer hair with color. Thanks for the opportunity to win such a neat gift!

  44. I’m a long time subscriber. I’ll be at the park’s this weekend so I think I’ll pick up some of the shampoo bars for my girls stockings. Thanks for the opportunity.

  45. My favorite products (I love all three equally) are 1. sonic Mia 2,
    2. Clinique facial moisturizer and 3. Bare minerals foundation. Thanks for the opportunity.

  46. I subscribed. I love to go to Basin at Disney World and get the Mickey soaps! I get an assortment of scents to use thru out the year till our next trip back to my favorite place. I’ll be checking out the hair care bars on our next trip.

  47. I love Oil of Olay skin care. Tried and true…. Even my dermatologist recommends it if you don’t want to buy their stuff.

  48. I love Younique Skin care line called Royalty. I have subscribed for your emails. Thank for the giveaway, I love that store!!!

  49. My favorite beauty product is Cetaphil gentle cleanser. Keeps my skin nice and soft and I’ve used it for years. I am so interested in these bars! Such a neat idea.

  50. I love to use Lemonaid by Benefit. Helps conceal dark spots under my eyes. ❤️ I already receive your emails for new posts which I love to read!

  51. Trish McEvoy Curling Mascara! It forms tubes around your lashes and comes right off with water (no eye make up remover required). It doesn’t melt, flake, or rub off under your eyes, so your eyes look fresh all day.

Also, Avon Skin So Soft in the summer-it really does keep the mosquitos away!

  52. My favorite beauty product in Bad Girl mascara by benefit. I’ve used it for years! And I also never go without a spritz of Chanel Chance or CoCo perfume.

  53. I’ve subscribed to your blog for several years. I have melasma on my cheeks so I have to have a really good concealer to even out my skin coloration. I swear by Benefit’s Boi-ing (#2). It blends effortlessly with my skin tone and doesn’t feel greasy. (I cannot stand wearing foundation so having a product that will blend without having to put something all over my whole face is a blessing!) I buy it at Ulta. If Benefit ever stops making Boi-ing I will panic.

  54. I’m a Mary Kay fan for makeup, with my fave being their Cream Eye Color. It’s stays on all day, and I mean ALL day, even until the next morning if I don’t take it off.

  55. I LOVE Tarte’s clay waterproof eyeliner pot in black….I just cannot go out of the house without my lips and cat eye ;) It has such lasting power and is all natural.

  56. I love Tarte Cosmetics’ waterproof clay eyeliner in the pot (black)….never leave home without my lips on and my cat eye ;)

  57. My favorite thing is Too Faced Better than Sex mascara. One coat and I am good to go. I don’t have time for more than that.
