Magical Monday {Holidays in Epcot}

I think this is the third week in a row that Magical Monday is happening on a day other than Monday.  My excuse this week being that Monday was Christmas :-)

We spent about half of a day in Epcot in early December and it’s really a great park at the holidays.  You will find holiday music and decorations throughout the park, special holiday treat booths (similar to food + wine on a MUCH smaller scale), storytellers throughout the World Showcase, a Candlelight Processional and so much more.

We arrived at the park just in time to hit up the DVC Merry Member Mixer for the first time.  It was okay for a free event.  Lots of lines and one cookie per person.  I’m not dying to go back.

The highlight was getting this pic since I don’t know where else you ever find these two together anymore.  I wish the photopass quality had been better though.

It was dark soon after and the huge tree was spectacular.

We hit the rides hard for a while with Whit picking up Figment as his souvenir.  He does love his critters.

We thought about canceling our dinner res to eat some of the holiday treats, but we were really glad we had it as the crowds picked up.  This was our first time eating in Mexico at San Angel Inn and it was delish!  The atmosphere was great, the food was really good and the littles loved taking breaks from the meal for the boat ride  – all on their own!  Honey got a full meal, but the rest of the adults had an appetizer as a meal and it was enough food with all the chips and salsa and queso we downed. I’d definitely eat here again.

We walked out just as Illuminations was starting but there was no good vantage point and the littles tired of it quickly since they couldn’t see.  We decided to beat the crowd out and, by chance, stopped for a quick pic.  She was able to get the fireworks in the background for a really neat shot!

It was such a fun quick trip and we enjoyed having friends down there with us!! Next Christmas I definitely want to leave more time for the storytellers and for trying the specialty food items!

  1. Cute post as usual but Christmas was Sunday! That’s ok… I’m mixed up as to what day it is too. I love this interlude of no schedules before it all begins again in January. Enjoy!

  2. I have followed your blog for years now & I LOVE all your Disney posts…but, I just have to ask this question since you guys go so often…do you DRIVE there from Atlanta, fly?…do you have a teleport machine?!? ;) I’m dying to know! LOL!!
