2017 {Make Today Delightful + My Old Standby}

I’m not one to really make new year’s resolutions.  I think when I was younger it was because they were all impossible and promptly forgotten within a few days.  In reality, things are good here – we’re happy, healthy, blessed.  So, in 2017, I want to keep on keeping on, making every day delightful.  It doesn’t have to cost a penny, doesn’t require cutting out all of my favorite foods, and doesn’t necessitate any crazy exercise regimens.  (all things I’ve failed miserably at in the past)

In addition to that, as a family we remain inspired by our favorite hymn, and will continue this journey for the third year running.  You can download the free printable here:   Change the World

We live this through the year with being intentional about looking for ways to spread kindness.  For the littles’ sake, we visibly record the impact with things like paper chains and journals.  I think it helps them understand how one little family CAN put their footprint on the world.

On a more tactical level, 2017 should bring the completion of my 40×41 bucket list (I’m running out of time!), the start of middle school for John, many more travels to Disney and beyond, and (fingers crossed) a possible master bath reno.

So, with that, I invite you to join me on either (or both!) of these journeys.  I would also love to hear your plans for the year ahead!!

Happy New Year!

  1. To be satisfied with your life is a great blessing. Living your beliefs and your best life every day – who could ask for more? My goals for the year are to simply be intentional and to live with open hands. My oldest will be a FRESHMAN this year, and while I don’t want to madly scrabble to hold on to the days with fear in my eyes, I’m aware more than ever how fleeting the days are. I want to take care… that is all.

    Hope 2017 is the best year yet, W fam! ? xo

  2. This year I have started keeping a Thankful Journal. It’s a pretty hot pink color and I keep it on my bedside table so it will catch my eye as I get ready for bed. Last year I found myself focusing so much on negative things that I forgot about the positive. I keep my list short so that I really have to think back through my day to pick out the most positive things I experienced. Last night as I was writing, my son asked what I was doing. Once I explained, he was really interested and supportive. “That’s a good idea Mama!” My hope is that by doing this I will have a more positive mindset which will result in a better attitude!!

  3. Just want to be more active and eat healthier foods this year! Today is a sad day for us as we put our 11 year chocolate lab to sleep. She had a good life and will be missed by all!

  4. Beautiful post today! Continue to keep her sister and family in my prayers.

    Amanda, thought of you last night when I received my Ethan Allen promo catalog. Did you know they have a Disney line?
