Magical Monday {Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort}

UPDATE:  A more recent review of Coronado Springs Resort can be found in THIS POST.

Back in November, Honey and I spent a few nights at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and then I continued my stay in a different room for a few more days with Mother, Sister and CeeCee.  This was my second stay at Coronado Springs and I wanted to update my review.  Overall, I was happy with each of my stays in this Southwestern-themed haven of brightly colored Casitas, rustic Ranchos and beachfront Cabanas encircling a lovely lake.  You can find great rates for this moderate resort, and I think it is a good choice for an adults-only trip!

I try to exclusively use online check in now, and I love it.  It negates any real need to go to the lobby, but I still always like to check them out.  Your magic bands are sent to your home a couple of weeks in advance and then they text you your room number when it’s ready.  It is so easy and has worked flawlessly for me every time I used it this past year.

The rooms are nicely appointed.  In my opinion, the overall look and feel was better than other moderates and values that we’ve stayed in (ie. no cartoon wallpaper borders or bedspreads).  Quite honestly, I’ve not found any of the rooms at deluxe resorts to be much better than this.  You are definitely paying for the amenities when staying at a deluxe, not a better room interior.  And Coronado Springs has two queens, rather than two doubles, which I love and my family needs.

The property is pretty large, but it was an easy and scenic 5-10 minute walk to get anywhere we needed to go.  On my first visit we stayed in Ranchos and it was close to the bus stop and the feature pool, but a longer walk to the restaurants and lobby.

This trip I stayed in Casitas and found it to be a longer walk to the feature pool but closer to the restaurants and lobby, on a beach section of the lake (with hammocks) and next to a quiet pool.  If you don’t enjoy a walk, you would want to pay for a preferred location at this resort.

On my first trip we took a break from Food and Wine to relax at the feature pool for a few hours one day.  It was large and the water slide looked like something my littles would have enjoyed!  They had tons of activities going on while we were there.

However, when I came with Honey it was November and a bit too chilly for the pool.  Instead, we made VERY good use of the hammocks on the beach outside of Casitas.

The reason that I say this is a great resort for adults is that it also houses a convention center, so you will see an unusual amount of adults and noticeable lack of little ones.  Don’t get me wrong, there are still loads of kids, but less than at other resorts.  We also enjoy the southwest theme and food and drinks that come along with it!  There is a great patio on the lake for a margarita and dinner.

And the sunsets are just lovely!

We dined in the Pepper Market quick serve and it was good.  Not amazing, but a variety of American and Mexican foods.  I enjoy this food court and particularly love their breakfast platter.  It is one of my faves on property, along with Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Overall, I would definitely stay here again, especially with an adult crew.  It comes into my number 2 slot after Port Orleans French Quarter in the moderate category.

  1. I haven’t stayed at Coronado in a few years- might be time for me and John to have a ‘stay-cation!’

    Also, did ya notice the Hidden Mickey in the lights reflected near the ceiling in your first photo of the lobby?! ;)
