This might just go down as our most interesting Sunday Supper :-) And, I’m classifying this as a “Sunday Supper” rather than a “School Night Supper” because it takes quite some time to cook by light bulb in the Easy Bake Oven. HA!
First a back story… I always always always wanted an Easy Bake Oven as a girl. Mother was practical (in this area at least) and said I could cook any time in the real oven. There was no need for me to be cooking in my bedroom. So, a few Christmases ago, after years of waiting, an Easy Bake Oven showed up under the tree for me!!!!
We’ve used it a few times over the last few years, but when Santa brought me a mix for Girl Scout Cookie Thin Mints we had to immediately haul it back out. It was around dinner time so we started with an actual dinner – quesadillas!
It was a pretty fun way to use the Easy Bake Oven, and much cheaper than buying the mixes. We used a biscuit cutter to cut rounds from a tortilla, filled with mexican cheese, and let them cook until the cheese melted. It took a little while, I can’t even say how long, we just pulled them out and checked every few minutes.
We added a dolup of salsa and the baby was legit thrilled with his meal!!!!
After the quesadillas we set to work on the cookies. They took forever and a day, were about the size of quarters and didn’t much resemble Thin Mints but, again, the littles were thrilled.
I have to admit that it was a pretty fun little meal. And those smiles made it all worth it. I’ll be back next week with a more traditional meal cooked in real life appliances :-)
Happy Sunday, y’all!!

DIXIE DELIGHTS DELIVERED
This cracks me up! My boys probably would have given up waiting, lol – but then again, quesadillas are always a hit! xo
I kept looking longingly at the microwave :-)
Love it. I didn’t have one, but my girls did. Oh the things they made us try…
Right?! Fun memories though!!
My daughters just got an easy bake oven for Christmas and you better believe we are making these quesadillas!!!! <3 <3 <3!!!
haha! Be sure to press it all down in the little pan. I should have mentioned that. :-)
This is too funny. What a great thing to do with your kids.
It took a LOT of patience :-)
I was a child in the 60’s & 70’s and ALWAYS wanted an Easy Bake Oven as well! :-)
Right?!?!! I also wanted a Barbie pool. I never got one so I have one to CeeCee for Christmas this year!! She LOVES it!
