Honey and I are headed to Denver this summer for a wedding weekend honoring one of his oldest childhood and college friends!!

Photo: Visit Denver

We are staying with a bunch of other friends in the downtown Denver area.  Since y’all are so good at this (you knocked Columbia out of the park!!) I’d love to hear your suggestions for…

  • where to eat
  • what to see / do

We love any adventure, relish a good cocktail and are always planning our next meal.  Let me know your thoughts on how to spend our limited amount of free time in the downtown area as we won’t have a car!!

  1. Snooze has incredible breakfast (or brunch), Larimer Square has some fun little restaurants, Lookout Mountain in Golden has Buffalo Bill’s Grave and great views of the city – for free and Linger has a fun rooftop though I can’t vouch for the food as we only got drinks. Have fun in the Mile High City!

  2. We’re heading to Denver too this summer, but as a family, and we’re actually staying in Fort Collins. We’ll spend time in Denver as well as Boulder and Estes Park. Such a fun area!! I can’t wait to read the comments here for suggestions on Denver!!

  3. The Kitchen is really good. Farm to table, freshly sourced. Beef, great and fresh fish. Nice wine list too!
    Enjoy!!

  4. Our family of 4 visited Denver for a wedding last March. We enjoyed lunch at the Cherry Cricket downtown (featured on a Guy Fieri show) and a dinner at the Buckhorn Exchange (lots of wild game and Teddy Roosevelt ate there).

We had a rental car so we visited Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. But if you can get to the Red Rocks Amphitheater which is closer to Denver, it’s stunning. This Georgia guilt suffered from some rough altitude sickness, so drink lots of water. Lol

  5. Denver has a nice zoo and botanical gardens but personally I would take an extra day and go to Colorado Springs and see Peaks Pike if you have never gone. Also tour the luxurious five star Broadmoor resort while you are there. Make sure you drink plenty of water and stay hydrated because the high altitude can affect you.

  6. My home town! Lots of great suggestions already. Tacos Tequila Whiskey for killer queso and tacos, Linger is amazing (reservation a must) with Little Man Ice Cream next door for dessert. Cherry Creek Grill is one of my favorites in the Cherry Creek area (also near the Cherry Cricket, a divey bar with great burgers). Cherry Creek Mall has great shopping as well as the outdoor shops next door in Cherry Creek North. Fruition and Mizuna are great restaurants if you’re wanting more upscale. Catch an evening Rockies game with great mountain views or rent bikes and cruise down the South Platte River Trail (goes right through downtown).

  7. I live in Denver :-) It looks like you have some wonderful suggestions already. I would add Union Station downtown for dining and cocktails. Union Station will also give you a glimpse into Denver’s history. It is still a working rail station- so you can pick up the light rail to Cherry Creek (home of the Cherry Creek mall and Cherry Cricket) or to a Rockies game at Coors field. For scenery close to Denver, Boulder and the flatirons are simply breathtaking. Chautauqua park in Boulder has some of the most majestic and beautiful hiking trails as well. The wildflowers should be in full bloom when you are here. I hope that you have an amazing trip!

  8. Never been but I hear Red Rocks is a bucket-list concert venue, and Fort Collins is the town that served as inspiration for Harper Goff when designing Main Street, USA in Disneyland!

    1. Ughhhhhhhhhhh…. what are the chances Honey rent a car for the 1 hour drive to see Fort Collins? I’m thinking zero :-( HA!

  9. High Tea at the Brown Palace will be right up your alley! ( I’m a transplanted Southern Gal living in Denver)

  10. Downtown Denver is a blast! You will love it. Since you have limited time and no car, here are my recommendations:
    1. TAG Burger Bar
You may need to take a Uber or Lyft, it’s a bit outside of downtown but SO worth it. Best burger I’ve had in my life.
    2. 16th Street Mall
This should be close to you, and is full of cute shops and restaurants. There’s a free mall ride that goes up and down 16th street. This’ll make it easy for you to explore the area!
    3. Union Station
You will likely see this whether you want to or not, it’s an iconic old train station downtown. It has an adorable inside with the BEST breakfast place called Snooze. It’s packed on weekends (2-3 hour wait). If possible, go on a weekday. Their pancakes are to die for.
Have a blast! Let me know if you have any questions!
