What do y’all call the crazy morning hair littles inevitably wake up with? Around these parts, and for as long as I can remember, we call it a “rats nest”. The culprit? Why, the the rats that run rampant in the night, making their nest in our hair. [In fact, this idea was so ingrained in my childhood that Sister wrote an award winning (amongst the elementary school set) book on just the topic, entitled “The Rats in My Hair.”] Each and every morning, I painstaking spray the littles down with detangler and go to work on their rat’s nests in order to be presentable enough for eyes outside of these four gray walls.
With that, I’ll leave you with an image depicting a solid rats nest. In this case, a picture is undoubtedly worth a thousand words.
And now that we’re suitably coiffed, it’s off to the pool we go.

Oh, gosh, does that bring back memories! Mel's hair was just like that………hence, the book she authored. Cookie must toss and turn all night!!! But still what a darling!!!
Pretty insightful. Thanks!

So funny! My boys have short hair so it just sticks up in the morning. But I always had long hair as a kid and we would also call it a "rats nest" when my mom tried to brush it in the morning. And since I still have baby-fine hair, whenever I am out in the wind I am a mess. I will never own a convertible!
