Bonne Annee

After a fantastic hibachi dinner out with friends and a table load of littles, we came back to our place to ring in the new year.

A few yards of burlap, candles and mercury glass were the perfect back drop for a simple and so-Southern (four dollar!) arrangement of collard greens and a “bonne anne” banner.  Champagne Cupcakes and Champagne Jello Shots were a sublime variation on the traditional new years bubbly, and terribly delish tres leches cupcakes and chocolate covered strawberries rounded out the convivial fare.

The kitchen table had a few snacks for the littles, sheets for them to record the year’s superlatives and an assortment of party ware that I dug out of the bowels of my closet.

Come midnight, we cued the Auld Lang Syne as we counted down, chinked our glasses, smooched our honeys and welcomed all of the great possibilities of the year ahead.

Sadly, this is the sole “people picture” I have of the whole night…

Bonne annee!

  1. Hi Amanda,

Your mother turned me on to your blog recently (we used to work together at the BOE). My 13 year old daugher–who is quite the foodie herself– and I are hooked on your site. We eagerly await each new post. You are truly amazing! Thanks for sharing your life and your wonderful party & decorating ideas. We LOVE them!

    Happy New Year!

  2. Oh what a wonderful evening. I love your tablescape. The clock faces as trays are just perfect. Your champagne flutes are beautiful and the pic of the children is the best thing of all. Thanks so much for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty

  3. All very pretty. Great idea to use the clock faces–where did you get them?! Please do tell! Thanks for sharing. I'm following you now, and invite you to visit me and follow if you like what you see! :)

  4. Zuni – the clock faces and other kraft papers were all found at AC Moore craft store while we were in Savannah. I'm so sad we don't have it in Atlanta… so many treasures for SO CHEAP! Thanks for reading :-)

  5. Fabulous! I love every single detail of your New Year's Eve party and can't wait to try some of your ideas out for next year…if I can stay up past 10pm that is. LOL! Do you think I could get away with the collard greens centerpiece even though I live in the NW? :-) Thanks so much for sharing your talent and creativity with us at Inspiration Friday!
