a.lure Low Country Cuisine

I’ve written about one of my fave Savannah restaurants, Kasey’s Gourmet Grille, a few times on this little blog.  If you recall, Kasey is one of my oldest and dearest friends and she just so happens to be married to the genius restaurateur, David Berman, now on his third grand opening behind the moss curtain.   a.lure boasts classic southern cuisine with a contemporary take, dished up in a stunningly gorgeous building located in the heart of Savannah’s historic district.

On my last trip down south a.lure was just a few days young and I was beyond delighted to spend a convivial evening dining with Kasey and Laura (another of our forever friends.)   Over a fantastic bottle of wine, we noshed on crab cakes with mango and green tomato chow chow and passion fruit tartar sauce, coconut curry soup with shrimp, napa cabbage, sweet peppers and thai basil (y’all, that stuff was DIVINE), lamb carpaccio with bleu cheese ice cream (seriously!)  and chocolate sweet potato mousse with toasted marshmallow fluff, spicy candied pecans and chocolate dipped bacon (swoon).  I am not exaggerating when I say that every single bite was just exquisite.

All you Savannahians and Savannah-lovers ought to head on out and give it a whirl.  You won’t be disappointed!  a.lure is located at 309 West Congress Street and you can find their website here and Facebook page here.

Congrats Kasey and Daniel.  Y’all have really outdone yourselves on this one.
xoxo

  1. It's 8:06 in the morning here and the descriptions of the food sounds absolutely delicious. I wish I lived closer. Your review should bring a lot of people by the restaurant. Thanks for sharing the pictures too. I wish your friends all the best.

  2. OMGOSH! I wonder if I started driving now I could make it there in time for a late dinner (I'm in Wisconsin!;>) Sounds delicious! xo Diana
