November first around these parts means the spooky decor comes down and our Give Thanks tree goes up. For three years now we’ve each taken a minute out of our day to write down something for which we are thankful.
I made the tree before my blogging days so I don’t have a tutorial. I really just freehanded it. The base is a strip of ivory felt. I cut brown burlap freehand to look like the tree trunk and limbs and similarly cut dark green felt to make the leaves. Fabric remnants were used to cut out “give thanks” I used fabric glue to put it all together and it’s held up great!
The littles helped cut the leaves out construction paper so you’ll start to see all sorts of interestingly shaped specimens going up over the next few days. We just use a little scotch tape to stick them on each day.
While I was hanging up the tree, the littles were happy as clams in their playroom. I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to share their smiling faces with y’all :-)
This is one of my favorite holiday traditions and a great reminder of everything we have to be thankful for!
xoxo

I love that you enjoy the seasons of the year as much as I do!! I admire your creativity and the memories you are making for your sons!!
I love reading your blog. I don't have children yet but I am defiantly keeping track of all your great ideas to use one day. From one southern girl to the other, I am cheering for you with the Paula Deen opportunity. I think you are the perfect southern blogger for Paula to pick.
Cute idea! Next year I'm going to start this each November 1st with our family too :)
I would love for you to share this (or any of your other great ideas) at the link party going on through tomorrow night at ‘Or so she says …’ Hope to see you there! http://www.oneshetwoshe.com
