Savannah: Back to Tybee

We spent a gorgeous and relaxing day down at Tybee.  While the littles constructed their own rendition of Fort Pulaski and tooled around on their bodyboards, Mother and I parked ourselves in our lounge chairs and barely moved an inch for hours on end!  April 2013 039 copy April 2013 046 copy  April 2013 088 copy   April 2013 066 copy  April 2013 091 copy April 2013 085 copy     We picked up Japanese for supper and Mother helped me sort through a couple of quotes for landscaping our front yard.  We might as well just paper the lawn in hundred dollar bills.  Who knew plants could be so expensive!?!? xoxo

  1. You lead a charmed life, you are all so incredibly blessed!
Your boys will have such a wonderful childhood to look back on one day. May I ask what line of work your husband is in? Don't usually comment, but you all look like you're having sooo much fun!

  2. Love the pictures!!! And yes!!! We just got a quote for sod to be extended to the end if our yard. It's a new build with a very deep lot. We have sod in half the back yard and field grass in back half. Quote was for 8,000. Yes for grass!!! And Bermuda!!! Which has to be worst grass in history of grasses!

  3. I agree with the first anonymous – DO you know how lucky you are – I have worked worked worked my whole life while raising a family and can not imagine a life like yours. Be thankful.

  4. I must say, I'm incredibly jealous that you're able to sit on the beach. My boys are 1 and 3.5 and I don't think I've read on the beach in about four years! Ha! Looks like it's turning out to be a fun spring break!

  5. Your break looks like so much fun! Ours was last week and we headed to the beach in Maryland. Very cool temps then but being by the coast was just what we needed! Good luck with the landscaping! We've had sod put in and now need to work on shrubs. The deer destroyed the ones I picked out last year. So much for "deer resistant". I might as well have fed them hundred dollar bills!

  6. Off topic, but….Are you mourning the loss of the great lily Pulitzer? I know I am!

Also, look in this months ballards….they have oyster shell sconces that look like they'd be right up your alley!

    Have fun in savannah!

  7. I agree with the first anonymous post. You are truly blessed. As a working mom who works very hard inside and outside the home and has done without for a long, long time, I hope you are very thankful for the life you lead. You are truly blessed.

  8. Such great pictures. I would love to be on a beach right now! Might I ask what camera you use? Your pictures of your boys are always so great!

I also saw those oyster sconces in Ballard and love them!

  9. Sounds heavenly! How old were your two boys when you were able to finally sit down and lounge at the pool and beach again? I have an almost 3 year old and a 4 month old….I know it will be a while, but you'll give me something to look forward to! :-) We spend A LOT of time at the beach so I am looking forward to it! Yes, landscaping-so beautiful, so expensive!

  10. Look at your cute boys…they're having a blast. Oh, to be on Tybee. Good luck with the landscaping. We had some done about four years ago and it was expensive then. Can't imagine what it is now.
    Have a great weekend.

  11. Does the baby have the fullest..red-est…prettiest lips you have ever seen??? Gosh those are some mighty pretty boys! :-) Don't tell Honey I said that ;-)

  12. Enjoy these spring breaks with your little ones because my 3 are 25, 22,and 22(yes, twin boys) and they are graduating from college. You are a wonderful mom showing your sons that special times can be as simple as a Sonic drive through with the people you love.
Yes, Landscaping is expensive. I have always heard to budget 10% of the value of your home for a custom design and not just a mustache of scrubs around the front of the house.

  13. well…your boys are just the cutest ever…. I love seeing your pictures of Tybee…we are headed there this summer and can't wait! It's our first trip to this area!

    Have a great spring break.

  14. I'm with Tiffiny. I thought for sure you would mention dear departed Lilly. One of the shops, in the painted houses, on Tybee had oyster shell garlands. Thought you and your mother might try to figure out how to make them yourselves. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Julie

  15. Oh gosh, yes I'm terribly sad about Lilly. What a great lady with an amazing outlook on life!!

My camera is a Nikon D90. I can shoot on manual when the littles are still but usually just go with auto. Daddy-O gave them to Sister and I for our birthdays 4 years ago.

This is the very first time in 7 years I've parked myself in a lounge chair so I guess my answer would be ages 4 and 7 :-) I still could never take my eyes off of them so I'm guessing I've got at least 4 more years till I'll be reading a book on the beach again!

Seaside Sisters has the oyster shell garlands!! I saw them in there yesterday. I had hoped to make them this year but ended up just hanging the oysters on the tree as ornaments rather than in garland form. Seemed easier and had the same effect. The garlands were lovely though!!

  16. Love it!!!! Not sure if I have commented before… We just moved to Beaufort and hope to be making lots of trip to Tybee this summer!! I just adore your blog!
