Six Flags

We made our annual trek down to Six Flags last night and took the baby along for the first time ever.  photo 1 (7) He was beside himself to get to Gotham City and insisted on riding the Mind Bender (at a mere four years of age).  Lo and behold he was actually big enough so we did.  Aaaaaaand, at the end he quite seriously proclaimed “That was so so so so so much fun.  And I never ever want to do it again.” photo 2 (7) So with the rollercoasters being one and done, we stuck to more family friendly rides… like the ones that leave you wringing out your clothes at the end.  We did Thunder River, Splash Water Falls, and whatever they call the log ride until we were all drenched from head to toe.  photo 3 (6) photo 4 (5) Per usual, the highlight of the night was rubbing elbows with the likes of Sylvester, gettin down with Tweey and trying to remember who the big rooster looking guy was. photo 1 (8) photo 2 (8) photo 3 (7)   After which we wrapped up our night with strawberry Fantas and the littles’ first tastes of funnel cake.  And let this serve a great example of why that is a supremely poor parenting call at ten p.m… photo 5 (3) Hope y’all are having a wonderful weekend! xoxo

  1. Now tha your "baby" can ride the big boy roller coasters it might be time for a new name! Of course, he'll always be "your" baby!!

    1. My baby is his same age and we call her The Baby. We were traveling and went into an ultra crowded McDonald's. my husband put her into a high chair. She was so mad at him. She wouldn't look at
Him for hours. She said this will be the worst vacation ever. Although today she said I am Daddy's baby but not yours!

  2. The big rooster guy is Foghorn Leghorn! :) The kids look like they had the best time .. even the parentals! :)

  3. I was always the "drink holder". The merry-go-round was a bit too rough for me. Eventually, it became a daddy/daughters once a year event. If they didn't come home completely sugared up and looking like drowned rats it wasn't considered a good day at Six Flags. At 29 and 33 they still love to talk about those fun times. Your parenting was right on track for your trip.

  4. I dreaded the day my youngest was tall enough to ride the roller coasters at Busch Gardens. I went with her the first time (even though I don't like coasters) and was scared to death she was going to fall through the retaining bar. By the end of the ride I was a mess, and she just had a huge grin on her face. When she wanted to ride again, I said " no way". She is grown now, but is still the risk taker in the family.

  5. Great memories of Six Flags in Atlanta, in the 60's and early 70's with my family, then the mid to late 70's with friends. I was there with my best friend on the day Elvis died. We were buying cherryberries and the girl working at the cart told us.

  6. Don't worry about the "baby" thing…I will be the big 65 in September (the youngest) and my sweet mom still calls me her "baby"…I love it!!! Whit will too except in front of his peers…..and someday that won't bother him either….Love your blog and your sweet family…keep making those memories! — Marti
