The Bert Show’s Big Thank You

Since it’s inception in 2007, our family has spent an evening each year writing letters for the Bert Show’s Big Thank You.  This Atlanta morning radio show coordinates collecting and sending every single serviceman and woman deployed outside of the United States a letter of gratitude on Thanksgiving Day.  Not only is this BIG love, but it’s a BIG undertaking – over 400,000 letters are needed to make it happen!!  Both of the littles’ teachers collected letters from their classes this year, which I love.  So we each wrote TWO!!

Letters are due by November 1 and you can find all of the details here.  Be sure to read up on the specifics before writing your letters.  It’s a great after dinner activity and would also be perfect in classrooms, youth groups and the like.  Get writing, y’all!

God bless the USA!
xoxo

  1. Hi Amanda!
Thanks for sharing. I've never commented before, but my husband is an Army veteran, who was deployed to Iraq, & I can't tell you how much it meant to him to receive these letters, especially from kids. So, thank you!
Thank you also for all your ideas & inspiration. I've started to celebrate the little things in our family more due to reading your blog. Plus, now that we've returned home to north Atlanta, I feel a kinship with local bloggers (except I must say, Go Dawgs!). :)

  2. Thanks for sharing, this is fantastic! Aria and me, along with my friend and her daughter are sending a package to operation shoebox. But, I think this will be something else we can do too. Love it.

  3. Thank you for sharing this. I teach 7th and 8th grade Language Arts and this will be a perfect assignment, as well as a way to spread love.
