Our Christmas

We enjoyed a luxuriously relaxing day of opening gifts, eating, playing games, reading, eating again, crabbing at the dock, and then eating some more.

I picked these bags up at WalMart years ago for a dollar a piece and love filling them with the little’s four Santa gifts.  As soon as they pulled them open, a Merry Trails balloon came floating out for their “do” gift.  Tied to it were slips of paper announcing a little weekend getaway to Wilderness at the Smokies later this winter!!

Sister wraps the most gorgeous packages.  I was pretty much over the moon to find my name on this one!  I shudder to think what you would think of my wrappings…

The best $6 gift ever! I had a coffee mug made with the company logo from Office Space and Honey’s picture dressed as Bill Lumbergh for Halloween.  He LOVED it!!

These types of gifts are always my very favorite.  I will treasure it forever.

The Kiel James Patrick Vickers Bow bracelet from CeeCee and Jay Bird was the biggest surprise treat!!!!  *swoon*  And Mother and Daddy-O snagged a couple of the last J Crew look alike pave bracelets from Target.

I was beyond thrilled to find another Allison Evans from Hazelnut New Orleans piece under the tree from Honey and the boys.

Mother outdid herself with some lovely handmade gifts that I love more than anything she could have bought.  Among a few other treasures, she painted these ornaments for Sister and me.

After all the gifts were opened and the littles had settled down (I use the term lightly), Mother read “The Littlest Christmas Tree” and helped them make little Christmas trees out of straws.

THEN she orchestrated their annual ornament making activity.  This year she painted them each a darling shatterproof ornament and then helped them fill it with the shells and sand (and a little glitter) that they collected down at Tybee.

We dined on an amazing meal prepared by Mother and Daddy-O.  Again, I regret not getting good pictures of her lovely table.

And then just before bed, Mother read The Mitten to the boys and then helped them cut out and color all of the animals from the story to fit right inside the darling little mittens she made especially for this craft.

It was a wonderful week at home and I’m so so sad to see it coming to a close.  Mother and Daddy-O truly go to every extreme to fill our days here with love, fun, games, activities, date nights, sister outings, and amazing meals.  They even send us home with suitcases full of clean clothes and a doggie bags for the road and back home.  I haven’t lived at home for a long long time, yet it is always so hard to leave.

xoxo

  3. Your family is so precious! Thanks for sharing your wonderful family traditions. I especially love the crafts your sweet mother did with the children. She is very creative! I also really love your Santa tradition with the four gifts. I wish I had done that when our little boy was younger.

I also never got around to commenting but I thoroughly enjoyed your Christmas house tour. Your home is amazing!

  4. What a lovely Christmas!
We actually live right down the road on Wilmington, any who I do have 2 quick questions for you. What size ae plate/platter did you receive and do you know of anywhere in Sav that sells the plates?
    Thanks so much!

    1. Hi! Unfortunately, I don't think anywhere in GA carries them! I called to ask about a year ago. I have either bought in person or shipped all of mine through Hazelnut New Orleans. Bestie Ron used to work there and introduced me to it. I've also become long distance friends with Katy who is often working in the shop. Point being – they are great and can probably help you over the phone :-)
