Clean & Simple {January Door}

Once the Christmas decorations come down and are boxed away for the next year, I kind of relish a clean and simple home for a while.  Yes, it can seem empty, but I like it.  For the month of January, I simply moved my Southern Homes & Gardens boxwood wreath from the foyer to the front door.

Now, the pansies are admittedly pretty pathetic looking, but that’s my black thumb at its best.  Perhaps when Mother is here this weekend she can work some magic on them.

  1. I have the BIGGEST black thumb in the world. I spent so much money on some gorgeous snapdragons a few weeks ago and of course the next week we had 11 degree temps. I can't blame it all on the weather… I bought a gorgeous "sweat plant" for my kitchen…it said "low light, low water" and I thought, PERFECT! Two weeks later, I notice it's starting to die. Yep…it's pretty much gone now.

  2. I am sure you have already mentioned this in previous posts but where did you find your urns and cute dogs? Thank you!

  3. I too love the clean and simple look after the holidays. I probably should move my boxwood to the front door as well since it is currently naked!! LOL Question. I have urns similar to yours, did you elevate them by turning additional planters over? Love it!! Oh and while I have somewhat of a green thumb, the deer took care of our pansies for us!! UGH!!!

  4. Yes, the urns were made taller by turning a second set of pots (target last year) upside down to use as bases. I think the urns were from hobby lobby and have been repainted so many times over the last 5 years. The dogs were from a concrete place in sandy springs. I can't recall the name of it – I think it's on hammond dr – but I've had them for 12 years or so :-)

  5. I'm with you on the clean & simple look for your house after Christmas. There's something so refreshing about putting away all the holiday decor and just enjoying your "normal" house for awhile. And I think your simple boxwood wreath looks lovely! Clean and simple indeed.
