Monday Morning Pretty

Our new sofa arrived last Wednesday!!!  *squeal*  And I thought y’all might enjoy starting your Monday by gazing at this pretty.  I know I did…   January 2014 107 copy  Just for kicks, here is what it looked like before…  (you might also notice that I’ve moved the chairs to flank the fireplace and y’all already know that I’ve fiddled with the coffee table and moved those silhouette pillows to the PCP’s room) July 2012 282   It’s the two cushion Monterey sofa from Ethan Allen with a waterfall skirt, and I just adore its graceful lines.   January 2014 112 copy It has the exact same seating (down to an inch!) as our old sofa, but the simple arms make it fit much better in the space.   January 2014 111 copy The fabric is a little lighter than I thought, but it’s an indoor/outdoor Sunbrella fabric and was billed as durable and easy to clean.  And, although we don’t eat or drink outside of the kitchen, I still added the 5 year protection plan.  Something tells me I will be very glad about that one day :-)  It’s very subtle, but there is a tone on tone stripe, alternating solid and herringbone. January 2014 109 I’m smitten with the new look and am itching to get some pillows done.  But that’s another project for another day…   January 2014 108 copy   I don’t know about y’all but we have a three day weekend coming up, and that somehow makes starting a new week seem like so much more fun.  Yee haw!! xoxo   See the rest of the room! Tour the whole kit and caboodle here!

  1. Gorgeous! I love the arms on it, and that it will be so fun and easy to change up with pillows depending upon the season or look you're wanting. And I love your chandy!

  2. It is beautiful! Random question…how to you like you bamboo shades? I am thinking of replacing our 20 year old wood blinds with them in some rooms. Did you keep your blinds consistent throughout the house or vary by room/decor? Did you have them lined? Wondered what they look like from the outside, we have white window trim right now. And, I adore your barstool covers.

  3. I love them! I don't have them lined – they are pretty inexpensive – all of mine are from jc Penney on sale. I don't care for them on the front of the house – all of those rooms have white faux wood blinds. The back of the house is a mix of the bamboo and white.

  4. That looks lovely! You're a brave mama to go with such a light color with those two little boys (says the old lady who raised THREE boys herself!).

I adore Ethan Allen. We bought ALL of our furniture there over 30 years ago and it still looks perfect. We pieces mostly from the Georgian collection (that's what I think it was called – it's queen anne cherry) and I still love it all these decades later.

LOVE watching your life from up here in Jersey – you remind me so much of myself when I was a young wife and mother!

  5. Thanks Amanda! I kind of have the same feeling, don't really care for them on the front (would prefer them to be be unified from the street). I think I may just use them in our family room and kitchen, all on the back side of the house.

  6. I love the new sofa and am certain you'll add the right pillows. The color is perfect in the room. I also love the chairs flanking the fireplace. Good move, Amanda! xo
