Chess Champion (again!)

Y’all, my momma heart was just bursting with pride last week when John walked away with the 1st and 2nd Grade Chess Champion trophy!  For the second semester in a row!!!!  *squeal*

And since I’m bragging on the boy, I figure now is as good a time as any to share this snippet of his report card.  His marks were outstanding, but it was the comment section that made my eyes well with tears of pride and joy.  Needless to say, he was paid handsomely ($12 to an eight year old = a kings ransom).  Daddy-O always paid us, and given the PCP’s extreme affinity for money, it is working like a charm for the second generation and running.

What I ever did to deserve such an amazing kid is beyond me.  But I can assure you that I thank God for him (and brother, of course) every single day.

  1. Congrats to your adorable son!! We also give our 3 girls for making honor roll and principals list. They also get $ from their Nana and Papa. Needless to say they love making good grades! I think in life we are rewarded for doing well at our adult jobs so why shouldn't they be rewarded for their hard work :).

  2. Congratulations to John! He is such a darling boy……..and a chess player. Not surprised, since he comes from a family that loves to play board games! I often wonder, just like you, what I ever did to deserve two wonderful, sweet daughters.

  3. Congrats to John…future GT scholar??? And my parents paid us as well. I give the grands money or something they are wanting to motivate them to do well in school!

  4. Congratulations to John!! Impressive. And, congrats to you too momma. The amount of love and attention you show to him (and brother) are quite apparent, and hence show in his school work as well.

  5. Congratulations John!!! You are the apple of your Mom's eyes along with your sweet brother. Always be thankful you have been so very blessed with such loving and faithful parents. Keep up the great work you are doing!!! –Ms Marti

  6. Congrats to your son. Did you see the video of Bill Gates losing a chess game to a Swedish(?) twenty-something chess champ? It was spectacular, within two minutes the chess champ beat him. It is worth tracking down.
