Winter

“What good is the warmth of summer without the cold of winter to give it sweetness…”  – John Steinbeck

One couldn’t help but marvel at the immense beauty of a snow covered landscape for as far as the eye could see last week.  It was beautiful and glittering and unusual here in Georgia.  We were all home this time, warm and lazy and a little gluttonous with the eating.  We read, played games and watched TV, and when we got the wiggles we built snowmen, took the sleds down the driving range and walked to our friends’ houses.  I, for one, didn’t miss the routine of school and work and sports one wee bit.  :-)

And with that, I cannot tell y’all how thrilled I am to be back to our usual sort of winter weather down South.  We spent the day playing outside and brushing up on our mini golf with the LEGO Movie sandwiched between.  (Speaking of which, am I the only person on the planet who thought that movie was the pits?  I mean, aside from bestie M of course.)

The high is 70 today and I hope to log some serious hours outside and on the porch!

  1. Beautiful photos of the snow. I too am soaking up all the sunshine I can get. The past few days have been wonderful. Hoping to take my little ones outside at Bible study today. We could all use some fresh air. Sent you an email with who I thought Bestie N looks like, not sure if you got it.

  2. I miss the snow! I have not had the pleasure of seeing the Lego movie, but I'm taking my daughter this weekend. I'm pretty sure we will leave and she will say "that was a boy movie!"

  3. Your house looks so pretty in the snow! Regarding the Lego movie – my son saw it for a birthday party so I didn't have to go through the torture. He liked it though – of course!

  4. The Lego Movie looks TERRIBLE to me. A friend of mine mentioned that she thought it looked GREAT and I couldn't believe it. Why would an adult enjoy it? Ha! I keep hoping my four year old doesn't see the commercials for it.

  5. Your house color looks almost gray when surrounded by a blanket of white. Very beautiful. We are thawing out up here and now under a flood warning since there is no where for all the water to accumulate.
I was shocked by how many adults were at the lego movie sans kiddos. To each his own right?

  6. It was the Pits but the kiddos LOVED IT. There were lots of adults cracking up around us. My husband and I didn't think it would end. It is 77 in Mobile today….lovin' the south :)

  7. The photos of the snow and your home are beautiful! Glad you're back to somewhat normal now. We had 82F here yesterday…today, humid, windy & cooler. Really makes one think that surely spring is not far behind!

  8. Have you checked out the Waterlogue App. It turns your photos into watercolor renderings. I played with it sooo much on the snow days. The $2.99 for it is money well spent. If you haven't used it, go to the February 13 the post, Snowlogged=Waterlogued post on http://shannonberrey.com
I think you will love it with all the great photos you take. DiAnne in NC

  9. Your house looks so pretty. I unfortunley saw the Lego movie in 3D and felt so sick after. All the colors, and movement was to much. The movie had some cute parts but I did not get some of it nor the end?? It was odd. My children loved it though mission accomplished.
