Liam & Leyland Back Again in 2014

Last night the PCP came across our The Naughty Leprechaun Story book, by Atlanta mom Stephanie Hicks, and the littles begged to start a night early.  I was reluctant, but when I peeked in on John reading the book to his little brother, all snuggled up together in bed, I immediately caved.  So, they decided to set the coin out in hopes of a treat from the good leprechaun, Liam.

If you haven’t been following along since last St. Paddy’s day, here’s the gist…  Each year starting on March 14, Liam the good leprechaun and his twin brother Leyland the naughty leprechaun visit little lads in the days leading up to St. Patrick’s Day! Liam rewards doing your best by leaving treasures and treats, while Leyland creates all sorts of mischief.  Before bed, children leave the coin out with the face of the twin they’d like to visit that night facing up.  If they have tried their best that day then they have created their luck and the wish will be granted.  If they did not then they will have to wait and see which of the twins visits in the morning – it’s just the luck of the draw.  On the last night, both twins visit leaving tricks, treats and treasure for St. Patrick’s morn!

Well, as luck would have it, Liam did comply with their wishes and came a day early.  He brought a special, early morning before school breakfast and little pots of Irish treats.

The exceedingly fabulous folks at General Mills sent us the limited edition 50th anniversary box of Lucky Charms – chocked full of green clovers – just in the nick of time (it arrived the afternoon before!).  I could hardly wait to serve it up for the littles.  They were beyond thrilled and could hardly believe “Lucky’s” magic when the milk in their bowls turned green!!

One of my favorite little holiday treats is to make tinted and shaped cool whip marshmallows to top our hot cocoas.  It’s SO easy and comes together in a jiffy.  See here for the how-to.

To top it all off, Liam left tiny pots of orange and green m&m’s.  To say the litltes were delighted is an understatement.  They were THRILLED!!

If I were a bettin’ woman I’d put my money on the littles wishing for a trick from Leyland tomorrow.  I’d best get my thinking cap on for that one.

Happy St. Patrick’s weekend!!
xoxo

  1. How cute! I love it. I grew up believing in leprechauns until I was at least 12 (seriously) lol…matter of fact, maybe I still believe in them.

Ummm…did I see someone's home in a magazine for April perhaps? hmmmmm? xo Diana
