Wrapping Up the Year

After just two years of grade school, we seem to have established how we best love to celebrate the end of the school year.  Since May is hands down our craziest month of the year, and I am tackling it with one good foot this go round, I’ve been making my list of things not to forget to do.  And this year the baby is going to get in on the fun so I’ve got to strategize on recognizing both boys!!!

Take a last day picture to go along with our first day pic…

Sit the PCP down and extract memories from his crazy little brain…

Send his Oh the Places You’ll Go book to his teacher to sign…

Set up a last day of school “Walk of Fame” and fun snack (kindergarten / first grade).  This is truly one of the most special moments of our year and something that I hope we’ll do straight through high school.

Now, before we get to that, we’ve got to wrap up not one but TWO baseball tournaments.  oy!

PS. Am I the only one out there who just now realized it was Cinco de Mayo?  Clearly I’m off my game :-)

  1. I am totally doing the walk of fame/Welcome to Summer banner this year – evn hough we homeschool. I'm still brainstorming just how I'll do it but I just know it will be awesome!

  2. You are an amazing mom!! You are creating so many wonderful memories for the boys!! Take a few to relax and heal that ankle however.

  3. Ha ha! Don't feel bad, A. I'm right here in the thick of it and completely forgot until I got a photo from my mom's personal aide today. There was my 80 year old mom, sitting in a Mexican restaurant ~ IN INDIANA! ~ wishing me a Happy Cinco de Mayo!!! Heavens to Betsy! I need a vacation!

Your "Last Day of School Trail" was one of the first of your blog postings that I ever saw and I knew, right then and there, that THIS GIRL LIVES LIFE TO THE FULLEST!

I look forward to following them all the way and beyond. :)

  4. I love reading about all of the fun little celebrations you plan for your littles! What happy memories you are creating. Thanks for sharing!

On a side note, I really like the stone pathway that shows in the picture of the "walk of fame" leading to your back porch. Could you tell me what type of stone it is?

  5. Thank you Mary! The sidewalk was here when we moved in. I have NO clue what it is. Maybe some sort of slate?

Jane – I love that your mother was celebrating at age 80 :-) As soon as I get off my meds I am going for a 'gita!
