On My Bedside {Save the Date}

I’m not sure how or why, but I do believe this is the very first On My Bedside post with a Mary Kay Andrews read!?!?  She is one of my very favorite authors and I always look forward to her new releases.  Many of them are set in Savannah, Atlanta and the South and all are good for some laughs, maybe a few tears, a little romance and a lot of Southern humor.  While visiting my parents last week, most of my evenings consisted of burying my nose between the pages of Save the Date.

Goodreads says…

A Savannah florist is about to score the wedding of a lifetime—one that will solidify her career as the go-to-girl for society nuptials. Ironically, Cara Kryzik doesn’t believe in love, even though she creates beautiful flower arrangements to celebrate them. But when the bride goes missing and the wedding is in jeopardy, Cara must find the bride and figure out what she believes in. Maybe love really does exist outside of fairy tales after all.

Next up, I want to get my hands on a copy of Diana Gabaldon’s anxiously awaited new release before we head to the beach next month.

Let me know what’s on your bedside and in your beach bags!!

  1. My most recent reads are The Mermaid Chair, Dragonfly in Amber (in my never ending quest to reread the Outlander Series) & Where'd You Go Bernadette. I'm currently reading Long Man & have a copy of Written In My Own Heart's Blood on request from the library – FINALLY! xo

  2. My momma is currently reading that book as well! I'm almost halfway through with "The Husbands Secret" and then I will read "Keep Calm and Carry a Big Drink" by Kim Gruenenfelder

  3. I went to her book talk/signing earlier this month for Save the Date. I was the only one there under about 60 and the only one who was positively giddy with excitement! Love it and love her! Natalie

  4. I finished Save the Date this past weekend. I really liked it. But MKA is one of my favs. Before Save the Date, I read Dorothea Benton Frank's The Hurricane Sisters. It was good to but I liked Save much better. Next up is Karen White's Long Time Gone. I LOVE her books too, especially her Tradd St. series. She's a low country writer too.

  5. The Rosie Project was such a fun read, and I'm on to China Dolls now, a bit slower that Lisa See's other reads in my opinion.

  6. My most-anticipated summer books are by Elin Hilderbrand. Her books are set in Nantucket and are absolutely amazing. I bought her first book, "The Beach Club," back when it was the only one she had released because I thought the cover made it look like the quintessential beach read. I was right. I loved that one and last year's "Beautiful Day," but my all-time favorite is "The Blue Bistro." I believe that the foodie in you would love it. How can you not like a book with a crazy-delicious-sounding menu on its first two pages? Put it in your beach bag for your upcoming trip–I guarantee you won't be sorry!

  7. Just read your bedside read of "the secret keeper" I loved it I don't read a lot so what would you suggest I read next? I looked at your list you have read a lot. I like books like that one a little bit of a clean love story that is fun and uplifting with some drama. Let me know what you think! I just finished and need a new read.

  8. MKA is one of my favorites! I have all of her her books as well as DBFrank's books. I bought Save the Date and DBF's The Hurricane Sisters at the same time. I loved Save and hated when I finished. I wanted it not to end. I'm really enjoying Hurricane Sisters.

  9. I do love Mary Kay Andrews! I read "The Book Thief" recently and am currently reading "The Goldfinch". It's about 700 pages; taking it to the beach!

  10. I absolutely love MKA's books and I am looking forward to picking up my copy soon. And I really hope that I will get to one of her book talks one of these days. I hear that she is beyond funny in person!

  11. I just happened upon your bedtime reads. Since Memorial Day I have read 7 books. I needed a break from education policy reads. I absolutely loved, loved, Rules of Civility! I also love Young Adult literature, and just finished The Elite. Up next is The Orphan Train.

  12. The new outlander book is really good. Also, I just seen where the outlander will be a new series on starz! Can't wait.

  13. I just finished The Book Thief by Markus Zusak and really enjoyed it but very heavy subject. I have just started What Alice Forgot by Leane Moriarty and am really enjoying it so far.
