Family Movie Night {Giveaway}

UPDATE: This giveaway is now closed.  Congrats Kristi Perry on the win!!!

Nothing spells relaxation for our family like crowding around the tv and filling up on treats at a family movie night!!  And with all the craziness going on around here lately, it was a perfect way to unwind and ring in a new week.

The REALLY cool part about all of this was that General Mills hooked me up with a huge box of cereals, the movie download AND all of the party wares to pull it off.  That freed me up for the fun stuff – setting a cute table and coming up with a couple of snack mixes.  Stay tuned, because one of YOU will have the chance to win the very same prize pack :-)

A movie night would not be complete without popcorn, but since we seem to eat that on a daily basis, I came up with both a salty and a sweet popcorn snack mix for our flick.

Salty Movie Night Honey Nut Cheerios Snack Mix
2 cups Honey Nut Cheerios
2 cups pretzels
1 cup honey roasted peanuts
1 3.5 oz. bag popped popcorn

*Mix well and enjoy!

Movie Night Trix Mix
3 cups Trix
2 cups Frosted Cheerios
1 3.5 oz bag popped popcorn
1 cup white chocolate candy melts
1 tablespoon canola (or other) oil
2 tablespoons yellow cake mix (optional)

1. Stir together Trix, Cheerios and popcorn in a large bowl.
2. In a separate smaller bowl, melt the chocolate candy according to the package directions.  Thin with the oil.  If desired, stir in the yellow cake mix until lumps are gone.
3. Pour chocolate mixture over the cereal mixture and stir until fully and evenly coated.  Spread on a pan lined with wax paper.  You can pop in the fridge to help it harden up quickly.  Break apart into chunks.

We took a family vote and decided on Narnia for our movie night.  It was a HUGE hit with the littles and Honey and I both really enjoyed seeing it again after so long. Specially marked boxes of General Mills Big G cereals include the codes to download a free movie, including: Honey Nut Cheerios, Fruity Cheerios, Frosted Cheerios, Lucky Charms, Reece’s Peanut Butter Puffs, Trix, Cocoa Puffs, Golden Grahams.  Only two codes are needed per movie and there are loads of great choices – Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Night at the Museum , Anastasia, Home  Alone 2, Marmaduke, Dr. Dolittle, We Bought a Zoo, Mr. Poppers Penguins.  Once the movie is selected and downloaded, your own it. It can be watched on any compatible device: Smartphone, Smart TV, tablet or computer.

  1. My husband and I love Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, but don't own it. If I won I would choose that movie.

  2. We've had two movie nights this summer so far – Batman and Harry Potter. If choosing from the list, we'd choose Narnia, too. If selecting from our own collection, we'll probably go with Peter Pan or Hook next time. I have all the party supplies ready for those.
