We made it last week with a cute kit from Trader Joes. Since we only got one house, Whit decorated one half and John did the other.
Last night I dressed up one of our favorite suppers, meatloaf and mashed potatoes, for Halloween. I shaped the meatloaf using a large ghost cookie cutter before cooking it. And then I used my icing thingamajig to pipe the masked potatoes into ghosts. You can see a little more about how I do shaped individual meatloaves here.
We also brought out our Halloween Truth or Dare game for an extra dose of family fun and laughs.
It was such a gorgeous night and a super way to kick off one of our favorite holidays!!
Earlier in the day I had lunch with both boys at school (nothing says yum like two school lunches), read our favorite Halloween books to the baby’s class and got my teeth cleaned. To see this one smiling at school makes my heart sing.
With that, I’m off!! More Halloween fun is in store tonight…

What fun afternoon snack – and those mashed potatoes? Too cute! Happy John is happy at school! Happy Tuesday!
Yes!! Barefoot Contessa truffled mashed potatoes. Yummy
Love the haunted gingerbread house and those ghost mashed potatoes are just too cute! I have that same pastry filler which I bought at a Pampered Chef party several years ago and just love it. I use it on everything from decorating cupcakes to filling devil eggs.
Amanda, where did you get your decorating thingie that the boys are using to add the windows to the house? I need one of those!!
This one is by Wilton and I've had it for years. I picked it up in one of those mall kitchen stores. Pampered Chef carries one too. I'm sure you could find it at Bed Bath and Beyond as well. I use mine all the time – potatoes, cupcakes, deviled eggs… you name it!
Your idea to actually eat the gingerbread house for dessert is great! It's all very cute and your meatloaf looks delish. I can't even remember the days of not owning my Pampered Chef filler! What did you use for the eyes on your (monster!) mashed ghost potatoes?
Jane ~ San Diego (Please tell your Mother I am placing the rest of my bracelet order today. I got carried away with my outdoor flower project the last few days!)
Love the haunted gingerbread house. And, that meal! Too cute for words. So glad John is finally happy at school.
Love it! Always so creative. Where are your black and white plates from?? So pretty! I saw them on your Instagram post yesterday and have been thinking about them ever since. Where oh where can I score some??
Love the meatloaf and mashed potatoes – SO cute! I am glad to hear John is happy again!
