Mother’s Haunted Home

Honey and I had the pleasure of house swapping with Mother and Daddy-O for my reunion weekend. It was so very strange (and wonderful) to be at their home without all the hustle and bustle that is usually going on when we visit. I just adored all of her Halloween touches and thought y’all might like a peek into Mother’s haunted home.DSC_0045

I usually don’t make it to Savannah in October since we’re in the thick of baseball season. I loved her front door wreath.

The pumpkin patch made me want more!! I also love the metal pumpkins in her two front pots.

Inside, her skeleton is quite fancy with its oyster shell necklace and chunky bracelet. I love that its reading a Poe book.

The foyer had a few bats on the mirror.

I took a few pictures of the house in general since y’all usually see it decorated for Christmas. This is the “everyday” look.

She recently painted the living room and dining room a more neutral color. I loved it… need to find out what it is! My grandmother’s baby grand piano is out for refurbishment. I cannot wait to see it!!

Since Sister didn’t have the guest room all covered up in stuff, I grabbed a quick pic from the door

And this is my room. I had to get creative so that you didn’t see the mess I made of old high school pictures.

Sister’s old room has been transformed into a bunk / play room for the boys. It’s hard to get a good picture, but Mother has put the most darling sheets and accessories in there.

I hope you loved your little peek. We sure loved every second of our stay!!

I’m heading back to the ortho today for a check-in on my ankle. It’s not any worse, but I wouldn’t say it’s much better either. Can’t wait to hear what he says :-) Oh, and I have a “free” baseball game tonight too. “Free” because even though John’s team got knocked out of the baseball tournament to end the season Wednesday night, the other team was disqualified after the fact for using two ineligible pitchers so we are now back in. If you follow me on instagram you know just how okay I was with our season being over. *wahhhhhhhh*

  1. Gorgeous, gorgeous – but I'd expect nothing less. Just love the Halloween touches!

Your ankle, bless your heart! I hope there's at least a little good news. And baseball – I feel your pain! We have played exclusively travel for a while, but decided to do rec this fall. My 11 year old ended up in a league with 15 & 16 year olds (you read that right) and for some reason we're playing until mid-November! Whoever heard of such?!

Hope y'all enjoy your weekend! xo

  2. Your parents home is lovely. Thanks for sharing more pictures. Here's hoping for good news at the doctor's office today. And yes, I could so tell you were more than ready for the season to end. LOL

  3. Exquisite! Queen Bee Marmie has created an elegant yet comfortable home. It's stunning.
The lamps are absolutely fabulous and the black, marble candlestick ones are very similar to those that Jackie O had in her Manhattan apartment. Be still my heart! I love the pumpkins on the floor and got a kick out you teasing Sister. The Poe book adds the perfect touch to the most stylish skeleton in town and the bunk room is great! Thank you for sharing!

Good luck at the doctor and don't mention anything Disney!

Happy weekend to all! Jane ~ San Diego

  4. Hi Jane,
Those candlestick lamps are actually painted black metal with a spiraled vine of flowers painted on them. And that skeleton just keeps evolving each year. He always wants to add something more to his outfit………no telling what he will insist upon next year! Thanks for your nice comments! I have a question about your tidal tassel bracelet order…..your ordered 2 red tassel bracelets. Do you want one to be 6 1/2 inches and the other to be 7 1/2 inches? And I think that Amanda told me to wrap each one separately. I should have them in the mail by Monday for you. Thanks for your order!. Dotti (alias Marme)

  5. Dear Dotti, Thank you so much for the lamp information. All of your designer touches are perfection. You are such a class.

And thank you for your patience regarding my order. My week has been so hectic, since returning home, and I've been meaning to write to get it all squared away since I was communicating on my phone while traveling.

Yes, please send one regular size red and one small size red. I will be ordering about three more shortly if you just want to wait and ship them all together. Thank you so much.

Today, I am wearing a plain, chunky bead bracelet and thought: This poor thing needs a tassel! Can't wait to have some that do!

    Happy weekend! Jane

  6. What a beautiful home! I can see good taste runs in your family. I especially loved the oyster necklace on the skeleton. Living so close to Baltimore I have seen many things Poe at Halloween. Actually once football season starts there is a lot of Poe with the Ravens,

Thanks for the tour of your parents' home. It was beautiful!

  7. Hi Jane,
I will wait so that all can be shipped together. No rush on my part, just whenever you decide on any additional bracelets. Here's hoping your weekend is a little more relaxed. Best,
    Dotti

  8. Your parents' home is so beautiful! I love the new paint color and I also love the way the window panels look with the plantation shutters. Now you have me thinking about adding panels to my office windows!..
