Every year while we are in Savannah for Christmas we have a tradition of making ornaments for the littles’ trees. I love that they have these sweet memories of our family Christmases. This year’s was super easy, something fun for all ages, and one of my all time favorites…
Time Capsule Christmas Ornaments
- Plastic clear ball ornament
- 11 x 1/2” strips of paper
- Pen
- Ribbon
- Paint pen
On ten of the strips, write down memories, accomplishments and any thing important about the year. On the last one, write your name, age and the year. One at a time, roll each strip of paper tightly around the pen. Carefully slide it off to form a curly-q. Take the top off of the ornament and push each strip inside. Tie a bow around the top and add the date with paint pen.
Sister and I are also in the midst of printing Lilly inspired ornaments for our trees. It’s a full on crafternoon around these parts!!

What a cute idea. I'm looking forward to hearing about the Lilly inspired Oranments. I've got a niece who loves everything Lilly (like most of us do) and I'd love to do some ornaments for her next year.
We did these this year, too – wish I'd been doing them all along! Glad to hear y'all have had a merry merry Christmas! xo
We r doing time capsule ornaments on NYE…so much fun.
Such a great idea. They are super cute. I love the Lilly ones you posted on instagram. I am posting pics of my mother-in-laws gorgeous home.
Love this idea, and the Lilly idea too. I need to remember to do them ahead of time for next year!!
Great idea! Can't wait to see the Lilly creations. Sounds like a wonderful afternoon!
