Musings

Bestie P brought me this Lilly coffee tumbler back from her grand NYC trip. I LOVE that it matches one of my all time fave sweaters (tusk in sun). When I posted it on IG I was laughing over the people that can’t do elephants due to their team affiliation. I TOTALLY get it and am SO glad that UGA’s mascot is the awful bulldog. Because I’ve never seen a bulldog anything that I even slightly liked :-)

Y’all know I have a little thing going on with General Mills. Well, this gluten free Chex granola mix was in the last box of goodies they sent and IT’S SO GOOD!!!! If you eat GF you must try it. I saw it at my Publix with the other granolas on the cereal aisle.

I’m still churning out Disney items here and there. I love it when someone orders a tag with a bow. Because I need any excuse for more bows in my life. {Dixie Delights on etsy}

I saw this on Instagram (have no idea who originally posted) and can’t wait to do it. I think this would make cute centerpieces for Honey’s 40th soiree! (eek… shouldn’t call it a soiree. That’s way too fancy pants for him.)

IMG_0253

Speaking of Honey’s 40th, I’ve reserved the game truck. Yep, the very same game truck his 6- and 9- year olds had to celebrate their big days last year. So now we’ve got a grilled cheese, bourbon beer, game truck party in the works. (I’m scared of what he’ll come up with next.) Come to think of it, his big brother celebrated HIS 40th with a game truck too. I’m seeing a theme here…

I made Ina’s baked cinnamon donuts this weekend. They didn’t turn out as pretty as usual (I overfilled the pans) but were still insanely yummy! (Find all the info here)

My bestie That Southern Chick had the cutest little barnyard party for her twins last weekend. Whit was in HEAVEN. John was interested in the little pig but kept his distance.

After being brainwashed by lobsterfest commercials, the littles had been begging to try Red Lobster. It had been a LONG time and is almost sacrilege being from the coast, but we had a pretty good meal and a whole lot of fun. The littles were in love with the sheer quantity of food. And me? Well I can’t say no to a frozen fruity drink bigger than my head and a few baskets of cheddar bay biscuits. We totally gorged and brought home four to go boxes. (There’s nothing like leftover seafood, right. Barf. My boys will eat anything.)

IMG_0262

I think I previously shared the pair of GORGEOUS oyster mugs bestie R sent me. I miss him so much and think about him every time I use one. We’ve GOT to make some plans to get together.

IMG_0263

I LOVE this and it makes me want to dive right into a master bath reno stat. Since I last shared it, the toilet seat has cracked, one of the faucets broke and Honey has done a really bad re-caulking job. Sigh. But, we need at least another year to save for that project and it scares me to death to live through that sort of reno. And next year we have some pretty lofty travel plans in the works so it really might be two more years before we can do it. Until then, I’m dreaming of brighter, cleaner, fresher days…

Elegance in the bathroom! #laylagrayce #bathdesign

I love it when my baby girl comes to visit. I don’t care what anyone says, boys and girls are just innately different. Mine would NEVER sit like this and color for an entire hour. She’s such a joy!

IMG_0066

Yep, rather than sitting and coloring, mine are always running around plotting things. And it doesn’t even stop in the car. I get out to pump gas and find this when I go to get back in the car. If you’re wondering, I OF COURSE pretended like I didn’t see it and sat on it. Copious amounts of contagious laughter ensued :-)

John has his 3rd grade music performance tonight. It’s got to be the absolute WORST event of the year. They cram pack the cafeteria (to the point where John actually passed out from the heat/close quarters during his 1st grade show), you can’t see anything to save your life, and your ears bleed from the “music”. Fingers crossed they aren’t going to play the recorders we had to buy at the beginning of the school year. He’s already begged us not to go, saying PLEASSSSEEEEE just say I’m sick. I wish we could. Truly. But I’m a rule follower to a fault…

Wish us luck :-)

xoxo

  1. I saw the same center pieces and am planning on making them for a spring party I'm having. Also, speaking from someone who has a grown son and two grandsons, whoopie cushions NEVER go out of style. Ha

  2. Amanda, PLEASE do a post on packing your pool bag! I'm so curious how you organize all your personal stuff with the littles stuff. Big Blog Fan! Maria

  3. Hahahaha – still laughing about the recorders. I actually bought a class set for my fourth graders in 1975, but we only played them in our room and on the playground for a May Day event. They are pretty painful.

  4. That master bath is simply dreamy, and I can definitely relate. We too have a huge spa bath tub and outdated tile, but a renovation won't happen anytime soon. Sigh. And yes, having a boy after two sweet girls has really shown me that God just makes them different. A lot different :)

  5. My dreams of a bath redo and add on for the children is five years down the road I think. We have black tile, green tile and I have the same shower! I just did a mini facelift. I painted the tile back splash to match the walls. hung a shower curtain with a monogram and made curtains to hang in front of the black formica cabinet. It's helped. But, I can't wait for the day to tear it all out. The previous owner had lime green, black tile (that is like rocks to walk on ) and lavendar ceiling. Lovely.

  6. Love the mug and your sweater. And, will definitely have to look for the GF Chex granola (baby girl is coming home for spring break next week and would love it on her yogurt). Thanks for the heads up. Too funny about the boys antics. Having grown up with 3 brothers, I can so relate. So thankful God blessed me with girls!!

  7. What a fun post. Love the cup and your cute Disney tags and bows. Look at that baby girl-yes they sure are different from boys….it must be the bow! lol
Love Ron – you are lucky to call him a friend.
Guess what? Once your kids get through all those AWFUL music recitals they grow up and get married. THEN you get to go to your grandkids music recitals which are equally awful. It never ends ..lol xo Diana

  8. I have a boy and a girl…and you are SO right!! Totally different! Good luck tonight…we had a recorder concert in December. I wanted to smuggle in a flask ; )

  9. Little Miss Cee Cee on her tuffet! Those toes! That bow!
Really fun posts, Amanda…I shall try the donuts. :-)
I started on a recorder and my dear family survived my practicing but
I eventually learned to play the clarinet and oboe so it has its merits.
My mother had the patience of a saint!
    Your boys are a hoot!
    Thank you for sharing.

Jane ~ Back from the Indiana tundra and loving the San Diego rain!

  10. The whoopie cushion picture cracked me up! So funny and yes, boys and girls are so very different. I love that you took the boys to Red Lobster after they were begging to go. I also love a good frozen drink and Red Lobster was a favorite of ours in college! Those biscuits are just so yummy!!!
