Sherwood Forest Tour of Homes

Y’all I am so excited to attend the Sherwood Forest Tour of Homes later this month and wanted to share all the details in advance of the event!  On March 29 from noon to four, the Morningside-Ansley Children’s Friends Group is hosting a tour of four amazing homes located in one of Atlanta’s most beautiful in town neighborhoods.

FMA Tour of Homes - logo   All of the homes are professionally decorated with amazing amenities, including features like a tunnel in the upstairs bedroom, outdoor living spaces, wine cellars and more.  Here’s a little sneak peek: house2

1 – 240 Little John Trail This eclectic French Provencal home was built in 2012. The current homeowners have lived here since the house was completed that same year. Rick Blanchard served as lead architect on the home. One of the most unique characteristics of the home is a hidden spiral stairwell connecting the butler’s pantry to the wine cellar! This beautiful home boasts several original works of art by local artists.

2 – 311 Robin Hood Road This craftsman, shingle style house was built in 2004, and the current owners have called it home since 2005. Architect David Fowler designed the house. The homeowners added the pool and gorgeous outdoor gardens and landscaping in 2012.

3 – 1692 Friar Tuck Road This home was originally built in 2006 to mimic a lake house! Architect David Fowler provided the design for this home as well. Gary Dresser of Dresser Homes served as the original builder. The exterior retains its lake house style today, but the interior of the home was renovated in 2014 to resemble the loft style. The home has an extremely open ground floor plan, allowing for a relaxed atmosphere throughout.

4 – 321 Robin Hood Road Built in 1951, this home is the only original Sherwood Forest ranch on the tour. This classic ranch house has been renovated and modestly expanded but in keeping with the original mid-century design. The current homeowners have lived in the house since 1987 and overseen renovations and home improvements since. The master bedroom addition was just recently completed. Sitting on the highest point in Sherwood Forest, the backyard has a lovely view and a 25-yard regulation pool.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to share a little information on the group hosting the event.  Morningside-Ansley Friends is a group of friends and neighbors in the Morningside, Ansley Park, Virginia Highland, and Sherwood Forest neighborhoods dedicated to supporting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.  The goal of the Community Friends groups is to raise money to support important needs of Children’s – whether that’s clowns in the corridors, caregiver dogs for the patients, or supplies for the families at their children’s bedside.  With over 100 members, Morningside-Ansley Friends provides special outreach to Children’s hospital by donating toiletries, food and hosting breakfasts for the patients and parents.    The tour is bound to be great and supports such an amazing cause.  Tickets are $25 and the event is expected to generate close to $50,000 for Children’s hospital!  I know from both personal experience with my own littles (thanks to our rabid visitor), and through Sister’s experiences with Jay Bird that Children’s is a very, very special place that does amazing work for the kids of Atlanta.   I hope to see y’all there!

xoxo

  1. We have been to Children's lots of times with our youngest, and it is a special place (as far as hospitals go)! Everyone we've ever come in contact with there goes out of their way for the children. What a fabulous way to raise funds! Thanks for sharing the info! xo

  2. I had to come see this; we lived in a development called Sherwood Forest raising our children! It is in Delaware though. It was a WONDERFUL neighborhood and my kids loved growing up there. I wish I could go on this home tour, sounds fabulous!

  3. A very worthy cause, for sure. I love home tours. The ones in this area(Aiken, SC) are always a mix of new and historical homes, most of which are family dwellings. What fun!
