Chinoiserie + Oysters {Giveaway}

UPDATE 5/5/15: This giveaway is now closed.  Congratulations Elizabeth Walker and Carly!!  Send me an email with your monograms and I’ll get them right out to y’all.When I set out to design a little birthday gift for two of my oldest besties (by “old” I mean we’ve been together for almost 21 years), the first thing that came to mind was our shared love of chinoiserie.  We all have the exact same china, which made our wedding and baby shower throwing days of yore super convenient, and we’ve all collected fabulous pieces for one another over the years.

Each of these have been added to the Dixie Delights etsy shop under Preppy Papers.  I’ve got the usual suspects (journals, note pads, pens, mouse pads), but also included folded note cards in this collection!!  Hopefully this summer I will have time to add more patterns.

I also recently added a cute gingham and dot combo available in many colors.  This came about when bestie P asked me to make something in blue and orange for one of her besties!  These are listed in the preppy papers section as well.

Moving right along, y’all know how I love anything oyster.  So, you can imagine how I am just ga-ga over Mother’s latest limited edition DeSoto Blue necklace.  There is only  one available, as these beads are hard for her to find.  She has asked me numerous times to list this but I kept putting it off because I really wanted to keep it for myself :-)

She also found beads to list one more of the original DeSoto in pale pink.  I DO have this one and it is my all time fave.  Ever.  I get so many compliments every time I wear it.

Last but not least, Disney items ship out May 9 for orders placed by May 3.  After that, I won’t ship again until the end of May and it will be spotty through summer with the littles home.

  2. Also, I like to surprise my girlfriends with dinner. After all, we are in the south… haha! I can make some mean casseroles. I love to show up with dinner for their fam, and a note about how much I love them! My girls are the best! Love them, and don't know what I would do without them! :)

I have lots of ways I love to treat my friends, but I am a big believer in a handwritten note (and I'm not just saying that because this is a notecard giveaway). :-) It makes my day to get real mail, so I try to do that often. I also love bringing their fave candy when I know I'm going to see them. It's easy to keep several candies on hand & grab on the way out the door!

  6. Treating my friends usually means a piece of jewelry of some kind. We are all at the age where we have most of what we want( what a blessing that is!!) and you can always use a new piece of bling. However, we do treat each other with find paper products because we still write snail mail notes to the people we love!!

  8. I am always up for a celebration and love making my friends' feel special on their big day. I do something to make that friend feel unique and special whether it is getting a sitter for them and taking them to lunch or surprising them with a cupcake and special card. It all depends on the friend!

  14. I think I follow you in every way possible! My husband says I stalk you a bit. ;-) Nevertheless, like you I LOVE any reason to celebrate. We celebrate just about anything in this house! To treat my friends I like to get a little something special for their child/children (books usually). I know that doesn't sound too spectacular but seeing our children excited makes us ALL happy. My BFF doesn't have babies yet so I get a little treat for her fur baby (Golden Retriever puppy "Ella").

  27. My favorite thing to give to my besties is going to sound strange…car detailing! We all are always hauling our kids around from place to place and the vehicle can end up looking like a moving garbage can pretty quickly. I buy a cute shopper bag to put all the "keeping stuff" in (usually TJ Maxx) and we caravan down to the detail shop then go out for lunch. There's nothing like starting your week with a totally clean car.

And also, if I want to treat one of my friends, I will take them out to lunch or drop off a bottle of wine (or a free babysitting coupon) on their doorstep with a handwritten note to let them know I'm thinking of them. Sometimes, if I see something that reminds me of them, I'll grab it too. But my favorite is to go to lunch with my dear friends and treat them when they least expect it!

  63. I follow you by email, and friended you on Goodreads (love that site). My favorite way to treat my friends is to "flamingo" their yard. I add appropriate costumes (brides, stork, birthday/anniversary hats, etc) and put them by their front doors. I'm too old at 60 to toilet paper their yard, so this is my "signature" look. And, it serves them right for bringing me all kinds of flamingo-bilia from all over the world. :)
