Mother’s Day

First things first, I want to thank the mother of all mothers for being so incredible and inspiring. I know it is evident from her many appearances on the blog that she is one remarkable lady. I am so very lucky to call her my own. Happy Mother’s Day, Marme!

As far as how my weekend was spent, I had the extreme honor of being the baby’s guest at Muffins with Mom…

I got to cheer on the one that made me a mother at my very first track meet. For all 8 hours of it :-) And then celebrate with slushie suicides and vanilla cokes afterwards…

I cheered for this one at his next to last soccer game… (Had to miss the last due to the aforementioned track meet extravaganza.)

And in between all of that I ate and ate and ate… Krispy Kremes, pizza, steaks on the Big Green Egg, wine on the porch and the ah-mazing Buttermilk Pie Co. Pecan Pie from my Georgia Crafted Mother’s Day Box.

The boys were so sweet to think of me with flowers, all sorts of handmade cards and such from school, a work party in the yard (pinestraw spreading AND fence painting!) AND a spa gift card which was a TOTAL surprise!!!!!!! It was simply a wonderful weekend full of mommy-ing. The role I love to play more than any other (especially errand runner and housekeeper).

To those out there mourning a Mother this weekend, my heart goes out to you. And to those that are wishing for or have wished to become a Mother, know that I am thinking of you too. I have walked that road and know it is a painful, especially on days like this.

  1. Being a mother is the best, hardest, most guilt-ridden, most rewarding, expensive, second-guessing, life-changing, richest, happiest, frustrating, all-encompassing job that I have ever held……..And the best one too! Love you and your little sister so much, Marme

  2. Amanda, you are absolutely precious to remember those of us who have lost our moms. As you know, my own got such joy from your blog and seeing your beautiful family and homes. We honored this first one without her with a quiet and sweet lunch by the lake. I thought of you as well yesterday (always need to see what you're up to!) and all of your different thoughts. Remembering all of your readers' emotions is a testament to your own incredible mother and father. Here's a special hug and glittery tiara to you, your amazing sister and mother for your southern charm, impeccable manners, strength, faith and style!
Thank you for being so kind. Jane ~ San Diego

  3. Even though your wish to the gals who want to be mothers was meant in general terms, I appreciate your thoughtfulness. We have been waiting for what seems like forever to get word on Jordan and Charles's adoptive baby from Thailand. We were hoping for April, but it came and went. The next matches will be done in July. (They then have to wait another 10 to 12 months to actually bring the child home.) Please add Charles and her to your prayers. Maybe we will get word when we are at Haven. Hope to see you there.
