Fall Football

Football is pretty much synonymous with fall in the South.  And while I’m not one to get all excited about the advent of football season, I do love to cheer on my team!!  So just as soon as Labor Day passed, I traded in the school bus for the fun Bronwyn Hanahan Georgia Tech football door hanger!!

This was my first purchase from her and, after a year, I can say with certainty that it held up GREAT and came out of my attic looking brand new and ready for another stint on the door.

Oh, and I am so darn proud of my pots.  I’m turning this black thumb around ladies.

While I have y’all, now is as good a time as any to tell you that I’ve re-injured my leg / ankle.  I ran the 5K on Labor Day and that went great – no pain at all.  I’ve been running a 5k three times a week since mid-July so it really wasn’t anything out of the ordinary.  But, later that afternoon I stepped off a curb wrong.  At the time I thought oh great, and I didn’t think about it again until I woke up yesterday and couldn’t walk.  The point when my heel first comes off the floor in a regular walking motion is excruciating in the bottom half of my leg above the ankle.  I’m in the same boat today – icing it, elevating it, wearing the compression sock – and it’s no bueno.  It hurts in the same spot it did before and hurts just as bad as it did when I first couldn’t walk back in April.  I literally followed the doctor’s instructions to a T.  Literally.  No cheating, no pushing it, yet here I am again after one mis-step.  I called him this morning and was told he’s scheduling two weeks out but they would call me to fit me in sooner.  Since we have a week in Disney right around the corner I literally can’t wait.  I called another doctor that was highly recommended the first time around and got an appointment for Friday.  I’m mad, sad, hurting and really questioning if the diagnosis I had the first time was correct.

Please keep your fingers crossed that I’m not on the advent of six more weeks of immobility.

xoxo

  1. Love your door hanger, and yes, your pots look amazing.
Boo….again? Yes, definitely have it looked at ASAP. I hate when they can't get you in right away…but the time they see you the swelling has gone down and it is more difficult to understand the initial injury!!! Been there done that numerous times with both of my girls. Praying it is minor and your are back running in no time.

  2. Nooooooooooo!!!!!
I am so sorry to hear this. Hang in there, A.
Hopefully, you'll get some answers Friday so you won't have to keep going through this or having to worry.

On the bright side…your plants looks amazing! ;)

Lots of hugs from the west coast,

  3. So sorry to hear about your injury! I know it's easier said than done, but try to take it as easy as possible between now & when you see the doctor. Hope you are feeling better soon!

  4. Oh no! I sure hope the news on Friday is promising for your Disney trip! :-/ And your pots do look gorgeous – I'm always envious of your sweet potato vine! xo

  5. Oh, Amanda! I am just so, so sorry about your foot. And right before Disney too? Boo! I will be praying for your foot and for you mood/emotions. I know that being down for the count like that can be just as difficult emotionally as it is physically!

  6. Oh my, so sorry….feel better! I know first hand that injuries are hard!! Jogging is really hard on your body/joints so I try to round it out with equal parts Pilates….seems to help :)

  7. Bless your heart! I did something like that several years ago–fell and injured one knee and then fell again a couple of months later and injured the other knee. I was on crutches and sleeping in the recliner for what seemed like an eternity. Best of luck with your new doctor!

  8. Sorry to hear about your injury.

Your pots look great for this time of year…..mine are looking so tired!

I love your front door color. I have the same door and have always wanted to paint it. (Have the one of the dogs too! )
