Something’s Afoot

Something new is afoot in the master bedroom!

The old braided jute rug finally bit the dust.  Its fringed edges were sucked up one too many times in the vacuum cleaner.  But, it was the night where I stepped out of bed half asleep, caught my foot in a loose braid and hit the floor that was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Honey promptly hauled the thing out to the curb the next morning and I began the hunt for a replacement.  I really wanted to embrace the blues and whites in the bedding so with that in mind I landed on this beaut from Decor Market.

The muted colors and wonderful patina make it look like its been around for ages.  I also love that it ties together the colors from the rest of the house (sands and sea blues) with the blue from the bedding.  As far as rugs go, this one was a steal at $320 for 8×10 with free shipping.

You just might have noticed that I also have a new bed in here.  It’s actually been around since last fall, but I just now realized that I never shared that little tidbit.  If you’ll remember, I bought a huge mirror last summer at an antique store in Savannah.  Well, one thing led to another and when someone on my neighborhood facebook page was in the market for new bedroom furniture, I sold her my bed and bought this new one at the outlet (Louis Bed from Ballard Designs).  I would have taken more pics of it for today, but Honey was spread out on it working this particular day. :-)

The coverlet is in dire need of a wash and iron, but is from Horchow.  They no longer carry this exact one, but seem to have replaced it with the Pine Cone Hill Savannah Bedding.  (serendipitous, no?!)

Bedroom update progress:

I hope y’all have a wonderful day!!  We will be knocking things off the summer bucket list… the final countdown is on.
xoxo

  1. The new rug is lovely… can’t wait to see how everything comes together!

Enjoy the fleeting days of summer! xo

  2. Love the rug and the fact that it has a “worn” look…..so timeless! Beautiful and a great choice with your sea blues. Anxiously awaiting more pics of the bedroom.

  3. Beautiful rug ! And the price is unreal!!!
Great job! Looks like an antique without the painful price tag lol!
