Mount Snow {Ski School}

We were geared up bright and early to catch the little MooVer shuttle to Mount Snow!

Honey saw the littles and me off to our respective classes and then headed off with “Mr. T”.

I took a first timers class and learned how to put on all the gear, shuffle around on the snow and ALL about french fries and pizza.  It was SO incredibly warm and nice out.  I loved just people watching and soaking up the sun on my face as much as learning to ski.

I likened this to a Disney theme park but in the snow.  There were people everywhere doing all sorts of FUN and amazing things.  Laughing, smiling, getting tired, melting down, and just having an incredible time making memories with family and friends.

My lesson ended up being about 3.5 hours long and at about the 2.5 hour mark my instructor let me and and one other take the lift up for the first time and try our way coming down.  It was exhilarating and exhausting and I DID IT!!!!  When I came crashing down that first time (literally…. I face planted into the snow and the bottom), look who was there to witness it all :-)  HAHAHA!

We immediately headed to find food and beverages.  And I figured out that second that apres ski is why you ski.  :-)

After lunch the big boys headed to who knows where while Stacey and I ventured off on our own.

Right as the day was winding down we ran into this guy for the first time ALL day behind us on the lift… (John)

He humored me with a quick pic before leaving me in his dust.

And, when we reached the bottom, THIS guy showed up.

It was a day full of firsts and smiles and memories.  I mentioned yesterday that Honey LOVES skiing but hasn’t been since we got married.  My heart could barely take it when our friend Mr. T told us that as they were skiing Honey said “I finally feel like I’m home.”  <3

We hit the hot tub as soon as we got back to the house, and now we have lasagna in the oven and full glasses of wine.  These are the days <3

  1. Fun, fun, fun! You totally lucked out with the weather this week! We were up in Killington last weekend during the blizzard and couldn’t even drive home Sunday. My kids had to miss school on Monday so we could get home…not that they minded! It sounds like you are all having a blast! Enjoy every minute – and cheers to apres ski time!

  2. Awesome! Sounds like everyone did amazing! I am hoping this incoming wave of warmer weather doesn’t mean we are skiing on slush. Have fun! Lauryn

  3. I am so glad you are having so much fun! and yes, french fries and pizza.

And if you only face planted once from the ski lift, I”m impressed. I fell off the lift like 10 times when I went skiing the first time. haha.

    1. HA! I took four tumbles yesterday. One of which left me with a hurt knee. Y’all know I’m fragile, LOL. Every time I try to exercise I hurt myself.

  4. Looks like you guys are having a great time! We went to Mt. Snow years ago and had so much fun learning to ski. Believe me, you will be sore tomorrow and the hot tub will feel so good.

I will be interested to know how Honey rates East Coast skiing to the slopes of Colorado. I think he will see a big difference. One thing we did while we were in Vermont is take a nighttime horse drawn sleigh ride through the woods of Vermont. I cant tell you how much fun that was and while kids will love it, the adults will find it very romantic.

  5. FUN, FUN, FUN!! Your bones will definitely we ready for the hot tub tonight. We went to Mt. Snow years ago and had a great time. We took lessons too and I remember how hard it was getting back up after a fall when you are just beginning.

Its nice that the weather is warmer up there is week too. We went on a nighttime horse drawn sleigh ride one night and that was super fun. Several farms in the area offered them.

    1. I SO wanted to do the hot tub last night but crashed into my knee and knew heat wouldn’t help it. The weather is fantastic!!! I am going to look into the sleigh ride now!

  6. So happy for your family (in particular your husband). He was back in his happy place.
Kids frolicking in snow is the best!

  7. What fun. I haven’t seen snow since i was around 10. you look to be having a great time. From the sun of the Bahamas to the snow of the slopes you definitely are having a great year so far. Thanks for sharing the fun.
