An Aladdin Dad’s Day

First things first, I want to wish my own Daddy-O the biggest HAPPY FATHER’S DAY ever!!!!!!  I look forward to being home later this month and saying that in person.  He was just here last week watching the grands while we were in Denver and has definitely turned the corner on his knee replacement recovery.  Yay!!  He’s even talking about another Disney Cruise this fall with Mother.

Back on the home front, we surprised Honey with an Aladdin themed Father’s Day.  You see, Aladdin is the current movie of choice in this household for about 6 months running.  (Looks like 3 people are due for hair cuts, no?!)

I scooted out early this morning to the local donut shop for a plate of his favorites, and I made a quick topper on the new cricut to go along with our theme.  It says “You are all we wish for”.   And it is true.  <3  He is an incredible father, husband and man.

Now, as I mentioned, we’ve had Aladdin running in the back of my car for months.  We know every line by heart and often quote the movie.  Well, one night about a month ago Honey came home from work and said… “Do you know who I feel like?  Genie.  I’m like Poof! What do you need? Poof! What do you need? all day long.”  And, this too is true.  He said it with a smile on his face and a laugh in his voice and I KNEW then and there that I had to figure out how to use the cricut pronto.  Thanks to an emergency drop in by bestie M early Saturday morning, along with her heat press and willingness to always help, I present to you one happy happy man and my very first shirt design…

We are off to the lacrosse field after a sweet start to Father’s Day.  I think this new toy is going to be a lot of fun!

Happy Father’s Day to ALL of the dads out there…. the dad’s by birth and the dad’s by choice, the fur baby dads and the moms that are dads too.  I hope you have a wonderful day!!!

  1. Amanda, you always come up with the best celebration theme ideas. Love the Poof tee! Wish I had one of those Cricut thingys-I’m thinking endless possibilities.
And I echo best wishes to all the Dad’s out there. Sounds like your own Daddy-O is doing well with his knee replacement recovery.
    Wishing all a fun-filled summer!

  2. Love the t-shirt? Will they be for sale in your Etsy shop? It would be perfect for my Disney- loving hubby!

  3. The shirt is super cute Amanda! I just got a Silhouette and I can’t stop playing around with all the settings! I hope you share a how to! I am interested in what type of heat transfer material you used.

    1. Thanks Liz! It’s so much fun, isn’t it?! I used the siser brand at Michael’s. I still have a lot to learn but will share along the way!

  4. Such a cute idea! We’ve had Aladdin on repeat this past week. Now I’m going to think of Honey every time I hear “Poof! What so you need?” :)

I have an older Cricut I for years ago, but it only cuts out things based on a cartridge you load. Is yours computerized? Just wondering how you got that cute font. Maybe it’s time for me to upgrade machines. :)

    1. Thank you! Yes, it is all digital now. They have an online shop where you can buy designs – my genie was under $2, to give you a idea.

    2. Also, my bestie gave me her old cricut to use for the trade up program. Look in to that!
