Disney’s Copper Creek Villas & Cabins

A few weeks ago, Disney Vacation Club brought us down for a long weekend stay at their newest resort – Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.  Transporting guests to the wonders of the wilderness, the resort is inspired by the legendary mining and railroad history of the Pacific Northwest. Rustic elegance trims every part of this new resort, where cozy touches mix with contemporary designs to create a tranquil retreat.

The new Villas and Cabins are steps away from world-class amenities available at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and just a boat ride away from Magic Kingdom Park.  In fact, our 1-bedroom villa overlooked the grand lobby of Wilderness Lodge.

I was up early on our first morning to take a walking architectural tour of the resort.  I highly recommend this as I learned so much about both the inspiration and construction of Wilderness Lodge.

Offering the widest range of accommodations found at Walt Disney World Resort, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins features Deluxe Studios, one- and two-bedroom Villas, and three-bedroom Grand Villas.  I got to tour each one and am excited to share all the pretty details!

Deluxe Studio

This sleeps four between the queen bed and sleeper sofa.  The little kitchenette makes it easy to enjoy breakfast and snacks in the room.  I loved the sliding barn door on the bathroom!  My family loves the studio set up for shorter trips because we can fold up the sleeper sofa and get more floor space in the room during the day.

One-Bedroom Villa

We were so excited that Disney Vacation Club put us up in the 1-bedroom villa.  For stays longer than a weekend, we love, love love this set up.  Honey likes to sleep in so the separate bedroom is great for that.  It also allows us to spread out, enjoy meals in the room and make the most of down-time when we aren’t in the parks.  This one sleeps up to 4 guests between the king bed and sleeper sofa.

The full kitchen is something we love having, especially for longer stays.  We do all of our breakfasts in the room and bring a ton of snacks for the day and late nights.  It comes stocked with everything you need.

When we have a car we usually bring food down with us, but I loved that they had this grocery order form.  I have not yet seen this in other resorts.  Of course, there is also Amazon pantry and Garden Grocer as well.

The bedroom was SO gorgeous in this room!!  I loved the attention to detail in every single aspect.

Another thing we love about the 1-bedroom villas is that most have a split bath which makes 4 people sharing it so much easier.  This side had a gorgeous shower, toilet and sink space.

And the other side had a spa tub and vanity.

The 1 and 2 bedroom villas, grand villas and cabins also have a full washer and dryer set, which can mean packing a lot lighter for longer trips OR just having a great place to dry your rain soaked shoes after a Florida afternoon thunderstorm.

We had this gorgeous view from our balcony that ran the length of our room.

Two-Bedroom Villa

The 2-bedroom villa combines both the 1-bedroom villa and the deluxe studio to sleep up to 8 guests!  You basically have the 1-bedroom villa above, with the studio attached to it.

Cascade Cabin

The real super star of Copper Creek are the Cascade Cabins that line Bay Lake.  There are 26 in total and they sleep up to eight with two bedrooms, two baths and large dining and living room spaces.

My jaw nearly dropped to the floor when I saw the cabins’ floor-to-ceiling windows, exposed wooden beams and interior-exterior stone-hearth fireplace.  It is a truly beautiful space where you feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks.

The den space has a sleeper sofa and sleeper chair and an interior-exterior stone-hearth gas fireplace, with incredible views of the water beyond.

The fully equipped, open-style kitchen has quartz counter tops and a live-sawn cut oak dining table.

And, the incredible private back screened-in porch runs the full-width of the cabin and features a built-in hot tub, lounge furniture, picnic table and natural stone fireplace.  It is a gorgeous extension of the living space that could be enjoyed year round.  The hot tub does have a tasteful fence around it so that guests with little ones can enjoy the cabin and porch without fearing an accident.

The master bedroom features a king-size bed with oak headboard, flat panel TV, custom artwork, two nightstands and separate entry to screened-in porch, as well as an en suite bathroom.

The second bedroom has a queen-size bed, a window seat reading nook with additional storage and a single pull-down bed featuring Whit’s beloved Chip and Dale.

The second bathroom is separated into two sections – one with a tub/shower combo and vanity, and a second area offering a powder room with toilet and vanity.  Each cabin also has a washer and dryer.

Grand Villa

Last but not least, there is also a stunning grand villa option that sleeps up to 12 guests in three bedrooms!

As far as dining, guests at Copper Creek have all of the options of Wilderness Lodge available to them as well as the full kitchens available in the larger villas!

Geyser Point Bar & Grill

One of our favorite meals of our week long trip was the lazy afternoon we spent at the brand new Geyser Point!  The unique menu has everything from bison burgers with Tillamook cheddar and a house-smoked salmon BLT with lemon-caper mayonnaise to small plates, craft beers and signature cocktails.  Disney treated us to our meal here and we loved every single thing we put in our mouth!

Artist Point

This is one of Disney’s signature dining options and one place we have yet to visit!  It was one of the stops on my walking tour and I now want to dine here more than ever!  The restaurant celebrates the culinary heritage of the Pacific Northwest with seasonal and regional menu selections.

Territory Lounge

Territory Lounge has long been one of our favorite Disney lounges.  We love the warmth of the rustic lodge decor and often make a meal of the flatbreads, fondue, poutine and charcuterie in the evening!

Whispering Canyon Cafe

Whispering Canyon Cafe is another favorite!  It is just a silly, fun meal with good comfort food.  If you go, you must ask for straws and ketchup!  Whit went so far as to ask if the skillet was a souvenir.  HAHA!  It’s a great place for a group as well.

Roaring Fork

This updated quick-service restaurant serves Mickey waffles, specialty sandwiches and flatbreads, grilled chicken sandwiches, pulled pork and more.  We had our breakfast to go each morning and enjoyed it in our villa!

Just like for dining, guests staying at Copper Creek Villas & Cabins are steps away from all of the recreational opportunities at the nearby Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

Boulder Ridge Cove Pool

This brand new, modern-day swimmin’ hole has a gorgeous backdrop and an excellent back story.

Copper Creek Springs Pool

The feature pool is heated and surrounded by pine trees and boulders.  My boys LOVE the waterslide built right into the rocks.  There is also a splash area connected to the pool.  The Salon by the Springs will be opening soon as well.  Here, you can enjoy pool-side manis and pedis, as well as hair services.  I really can’t even envision what this will be like – I will def report back soon :-)  My kids also always love the afternoon pool parties with trivia, games, bingo and other challenges.

The Geyser

My kids LOVE the geyser….

Hidden Mickey Scavenger Hunt

Be sure to pick up the hidden Mickey scavenger hunt at the front desk.  It is a great way to explore the resort!

There is SO much to do at Wilderness Lodge that we still haven’t done it all in our two stays.  Here are a few more on our list…

Teton Boat & Bike Rentals – Cruise around Bay Lake aboard a variety of watercraft, include family pontoon boats. Land-lovers can steer bicycles and surrey bikes around the resort or down the trail to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

Jogging Trails – Take a quick jaunt down the .75-mile shaded trail that leads to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground or take your time wandering the 2.5-mile pathway throughout the resort’s grounds.

Buttons and Bells Arcade – Delight in both classic and contemporary arcade games.

Campfire and s’mores – We were so sad that we didn’t squeeze this in!  Each evening they show a movie under the stars and light up the fire pits for s’mores.

Electrical Water Pageant – This classic water parade goes right by Wilderness Lodge on Bay Lake every evening. I still remember this from coming to Disney as a child!

Now, I know I will get questions about Disney Vacation Club.  I have hemmed and hawed over writing my own post because there are already so many out there that I’m not sure what more I could really add to the equation.  Essentially, Disney Vacation Club is Disney’s version of a time share.  You purchase a number of points at a “home resort” (current options are Copper Creek, Polynesian and Aulani).  These points can be used any time during the year at any resort for any type of accommodation.  Of course, some take a lot more points than others.  If you have specific questions, please email me and I will help however I can!

That being said, you do not have to be a Disney Vacation Club member to enjoy these beautiful accommodations!  They are available to the general public for booking, just like a regular hotel room.  I don’t think many people realize this!

Before I go, I also want to share that one of our favorite things about Wilderness Lodge is taking the boat over to Magic Kingdom.  It is such a peaceful way to arrive and depart.  The other parks are accessible by bus, but Wilderness Lodge is a fabulous choice for families that will spend the majority of their time at Magic Kingdom and dining at the monorail resorts (Chef Mickey’s, Ohana, Park Fare, etc.).

As always, I am happy to answer any questions you have about Copper Creek, Wilderness Lodge, or Disney in general!!  THANK YOU to the Disney Vacation Club for hosting, feeding and entertaining us all weekend long!!
