Epcot International Food & Wine Festival

Our fall break gets us down to Disney each year right at the time of one of our very favorite events – the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.

It was a beautiful day for walking around the World Showcase!  Here’s a little picture tour of our favorites – between the four of us we each had a few bites of a LOT of things.  The kids enjoy looking through the passport and figuring out which countries they want to visit and which things they’d like to try.

Salmon BLT Sushi Roll in Japan: Thumbs Up!

Belgian Waffle with Berry Compote and Whipped Cream in Belgium: Thumbs Up from the kids – there are other sweets I prefer

Beer-braised Beef served with Smoked Gouda Mashed Potatoes in Belgium: Thumbs Up

Chocolate Baklava: Rolled Phyllo Dough with Toasted Almonds and Dark Chocolate Sauce in Morocco: Thumbs Up – much more my speed than the waffle

St-Germain Sparkling Kir: Sparkling Wine and St-Germain Elderflower liqueur in France: Thumbs Up!

Warm Irish Cheddar Cheese and Stout Dip with Irish Brown Bread in Ireland: Thumbs Up – one of our favorites!

Fresh Potato Pancake with Scottish Smoked Salmon and Herbed Sour Cream in Scotland: Ok but not the very best

Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup served with a Pretzel Roll and “Le Cellier” Wild Mushroom Beef Filet Mignon with Truffle-Butter Sauce in Canada: Thumbs Up! Another absolute favorite!

Limited Time Offer: The Glownut in the Light Lab: Thumbs Down – skip this!

T=CC2: Vanilla Tonic Water and Cotton Candy (Non-Alcoholic) in the Light Lab: Thumbs Down; This was really cool to see it being made but neither of the kids liked it

Seared Scallops, Truffled Celery Root Purée, Brussel Sprouts and Wild Mushrooms featuring Melissa’s Produce in Wine and Dine Studio: Thumbs Up!

Artist Palette of Cheese and Wine in Wine and Dine Studio: Thumbs Up – I mean, it’s cheese!

Kalua Pork Slider with Sweet and Sour DOLE® Pineapple Chutney and Spicy Mayonnaise and Grilled Tuna Tataki with Seaweed Salad and Pickled Cucumbers and Wasabi Cream in Hawai’i: Thumbs Up!  The slider is a consistent favorite and the tuna was quite good too.

Marinated Chicken with Peanut Sauce and Stir-fried Vegetables, Seared Shrimp and Scallop Cake with Cold Noodle Salad and Red Hot Spicy Thai Curry Beef with Steamed Rice in Thailand: Everyone loved the chicken; the other two were ok

And, lastly, a trip to Epcot wouldn’t be complete without ice cream in France.  It’s available year round so you can get this on any visit.  It is always delicious!!

We made two trips around the World to eat all of this and fit in a few rides.  I feel like the Frozen Ever After ride is always down when we are there but we made it on this time!

And, of course, Test Track is my boys very favorite.

We also tried a few new ones.  Mission Space (green) was something we haven’t done in years.  It was fun and there is never a wait!  Just be sure you are okay in small spaces with VR type video.

But a highlight that we’ve never caught before were the Voices of Liberty.  Wow!  I got chills watching them.  Definitely check the times schedule and put this on your agenda.  Gather in the (air conditioned) rotunda about 15 minutes prior and sit on the right side  red circle for the best view.  They are spectacular.  We also saw the show for the first time and it was great!

One reason that I love the Disney Dining Plan is that every single item we ate, excluding the drinks, counts as a snack on the Disney Dining Plan.  Also, one quick service meal can be exchanged for three snacks (in one transaction) so, for example, you can use one quick service meal to get three snacks at a kiosk!  I hope that makes sense – ask if it doesn’t.

I also want to get some tips and tricks out for the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party before we get too far into the month.  Look for that soon!
