8th Annual Snowflake Breakfast: Elf on the Shelf Birthday Bash

Every year that this elf thing keeps going surprises me.  I’m pretty certain nobody here believes that Scout is Santa’s flying elf, but I know that everyone enjoys the fun and magic that comes along with the tradition.   After all, Scout is silly, tricky and has LOTS of treats.

I had already talked with John about turning over all elf responsibilities to him this year and he was SO excited to take the reins.  But, much like last year, on the eve of his birthday he asked if Scout would be bringing a breakfast.  Now, he did so with a little twinkle in his eye and a slight smirk on his face, but he still asked.  And so, “Scout” threw together a plan at the last minute for our 8th Annual Snowflake Breakfast.  This time with a birthday thrown into the mix!

Much of the fun of Scout’s arrival each year IS the breakfast party.  When he was new and Mommy was younger and less busy, he made an entire feast of teeny tiny breakfast foods.  Now he just brings good donuts or all the toppings for pancakes :-)

You might remember that last year Elsa got an elf dog, Anna.  My little animal loving Whit thinks Anna is pretty much the best thing ever.

The birthday boy requested “daddy’s” chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast.  (Do y’all remember how hard I worked at perfecting pancakes??  And “daddy’s” are still better.  HA!)  Mini chocolate chips, sprinkles, warm syrup and whipped cream made for pretty sweet toppings.

I pulled out our family birthday plate (this one was a gift years ago, but I also love this one!)   This only comes out four days a year, or when we are lucky enough to host a birthday gal/guy on their big day, and you know you are in for a treat when it does.

I can’t wait to see what mischief the elf and his pup bring in 2017.  John has told me he needs to know that whatever he comes up with is “approved” and said he will probably need a budget.  Hmmmm….

  1. Welcome back, Scout!

It sounds like John has big plans… can’t wait to see how it all turns out! xo

  2. Sooo cute!!! I love this post every year. Ours are coming back on Friday (Dec. 1). I found the cutest baby elf on Etsy from a lady in the UK that makes them and my daughters girl elf is going to have a baby this year! I can’t wait to surprise her! Lol!
