Deck the Halls 2017 {Tween Room}

Okay, I’m going to speed through the rest of my Christmas tour.  Today we are back with John’s room.  Not only do you get to see his new Christmas decor, but you also can see his room 90% complete!!  I started working on it in August and we didn’t quite cross the finish line before it was time to decorate for the holidays.

Here you can get a good view of what it looks like overall.  He has a HUGE room – it was once two but a previous owner removed the wall separating them.

We’ve got a lot of things going on with this bedding but I *think* it works :-)  I picked out the woody sheets for him at Pottery Barn for a bit more of a grown up look.  Since he is already plotting to take his dad’s jeep when he turns sixteen, he loved them.  The bear… that promptly landed in a pile of dirty socks and lax gear the first night he tumbled onto the bed.

The print over his bed for Christmas is a limited edition courtesy of The Old Try.  It is hard to see but it has all of the reindeer listed and the O in Rudolph is red.  The Red Ryder print was also a limited edition Old Try print but it hangs here year round.

Since we took out the twin beds and put in a queen it really opened up the room a lot.  I reused a lot of the same furniture.  This desk was my mom’s as a child and then she passed it along to me.  I know the wood doesn’t really match the rest of the room but it is a special piece that I could never paint or refinish.  :-)

All of the extra space gave us room for a sitting area.  He really wanted a sofa and a bean bag – and it works!  I’ll share all of the details and sources in January with a full write up.

I picked out the antique dresser for him in his nursery before he was born.  It is one of my favorite pieces to date!  Yet another Old Try Christmas print hangs here.  I guess his room is like our Old Try showroom.  ha!

And, this pillow was also picked out for him as a newborn on his first Christmas!  It is still so cute!

Here’s a peek at that side of the room.  I have been debating painting that book shelf but finally decided to just paint the back of it where it currently is covered in a pretty ugly fabric.

I love how the boys rooms turned out this year.  It was fun to have new-ish spaces to decorate and they both loved seeing them when they came home from school (this was weeks ago by now.)

I’ll run through the adult bedrooms and porch in the next few days!!  It’s full steam head until Christmas, right?!
