Flurry of Fun at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

We are back from our annual Christmas / Birthday trip down to Disney World and I am so excited to share all the details on the new “Flurry of Fun” holiday offerings at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, including Sunset Seasons Greetings and Jingle Bell! Jingle BAM!

Disney knocked it out of the park so to speak with the decorations this year.  They were adorable.

We arrived in time to hit a few highlights before the party like Toy Story and Tower of Terror.  I’ll give you one guess who the crazy one is in this family…

Since this trip always falls the week between my boys’ birthdays, I try to come up with one new and special event to do.  They BOTH agreed that the Jingle Bell! Jingle BAM! Dessert Party in Hollywood Studios was a favorite from last year so we booked it again!

The official start time of the party was 6:30PM but we happened to walk by around 5:15PM and saw that they were already checking in guests.  They gave us a table assignment and a slip with our return time of 6:05PM.

We were among the very first inside – although I will say that is totally not necessary the way they ran this event.  At promptly 6:05 we were cheesing with Goofy!

I LOVE that this party has a great selection of sweet and savory snacks.  We made a dinner of it and I think that is entirely do-able if you don’t mind snacking through a meal time.  That also makes the price tag on the event a little easier to swallow ($79 for adults; $45 for kids).  Cocktails, beer and wine are also included.

Since we were at the party early and really wanted to see the new Sunset Seasons Greetings show on Sunset Boulevard, we filled up and then stepped out around 7PM to go check it out.  Your credentials do allow you to enter and exit the party.  On our way out, they gave each of us a keepsake Christmas ornament from the event.  It was nice and I liked it much better than the gingerbread cookies they gave out last year.

Now, over on Sunset Boulevard, the entire street is transformed into a winter wonderland with snow, twinkle lights, Christmas music and projections on the Tower of Terror.

We stood at the end of the street and had a great time – and good view – of the show.  We watched it one full run through and thought it was absolutely worth seeing!  Our favorite part was seeing the Hollywood Tower Hotel transformed into the cheerful Hollywood Toy Hotel.

After a run through, we made our way back to the reserved viewing area for the dessert party.  Here we had fantastic spots for both the all-new Disney Movie Magic and Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!. This larger-than-life extravaganza features iconic music, fireworks, special effects and state-of-the-art projections that display heartwarming moments from favorite Disney films.

I’ve done a lot of dessert parties at Disney and compared to recent offerings, this one blows the other out of the water.  Logistically, it couldn’t have been better.  The location is incredible – on the patio of the Chinese Theater – and there are chairs to sit in (it’s the little things sometimes).  The food offerings and drinks were excellent and varied.  AND the viewing location was fantastic (we sat right on the curb in front of the railing to the right of the big shrubs in the center and had the BEST spot)!  My boys love this show because it has a story that they can follow along with, as opposed to most of the fireworks shows that really pull at your heart strings.  Disney really improved upon this event from last year and I would definitely recommend it!

To cap off an already great night, on the way out of the park, it snowed again!!!  And….. our resort bus came right as we walked up.  :-)

Happy holidays, y’all!!
