Master Bathroom {Tile Selections}

I am really excited to share our master bathroom tile selections with y’all today!! I shopped with Mother while in Savannah and quickly narrowed in on these.  My contractor came by this morning to look them over and said everything was fantastic!!  Yippee!!

Floor Tile

3×24 Volakas Plus Polished
$3.88 / sq ft
Laid in a herringbone pattern with light gray grout (pending labor pricing)

Shower Walls

4×10 Maiolica White Ceramic Tile
$0.89 each
Laid in a brick pattern with white grout

I loved this one so much because it is budget friendly but looks handmade with its texture.  It is so beautiful put together on a wall.  I chose white grout to make everything look as clean and seamless as possible.  I will also have an area for toiletries that will be done in this same white tile for consistency.

Shower Inset

Carrara Marble Fan
$15.99 each
Laid in inset to make feature wall with fixtures (second photo) with white grout

I fell in love with this mosaic because it reminds me of fish scales, and the coast, and Savannah, and so on and so forth.  I knew I had to have it the minute I laid eye on it.  I live in the middle of land locked Atlanta but love coastal touches here and there.

Shower Floor

Porcelain 12×12 Volakas Matte Hexagon Mosaic
$12.99 each
Laid with light gray grout (photo is of polished but we will use honed)

I thought I would go ahead and share the contact information for the contractor we selected since I’ve received a few questions.  So far he has been extremely responsive, has great ideas and is budget conscious.  I found him through my friend, coworker and “mentor” from work – he is almost done with her kitchen gut and it looks fantastic!

  1. So exciting, Amanda! I love your selections and can’t wait to see it all together. When it’s done I will have to show my husband your before and after. I have been dying to remodel our master bath for awhile, mainly because the shower is in such bad shape. He seems to think we can get away with just updating the shower and leaving the rest…um, not going to happen! Good luck with yours!

  2. We just remodeled to give ourselves a downstairs bedroom and master bath. After looking at so many choices my mind was whirling, we are happy now that everything is complete. I would suggest that you NOT purchase one of those sinks that sits on top of a counter like a bowl (can’t think of what it is called right now). We have friends who have them and they said it is a mistake – kept splashing everywhere, inconvenient to use, and it is necessary clean and wipe the inside of the sink AND the outside – who wants to make more work for themselves? Not me!

  3. So glad I saw your post when I did. We’re in the process of picking selections for our new house and the master bath is giving me fits! As of today, I have basically the same exact choices as yours! 24×24 volakas matte for the bath floor (on a diagonal) and volakas hex for the shower floor. Still trying to figure out the shower walls. We’re trying to find something to jazz up a large format white tile without it looking too forced. Can’t wait to see yours complete!!! Good luck!

    1. How exciting! Send me pics of yours! I didn’t see a 24×24 volakas. Hmmm…. might need to look into that one.

  4. Hey Amanda, your bathroom is beautiful! My bathroom is gutted and I must make floor tile selection ASAP. I really want to use honed marble but worry about wear and tear with two wild dogs, etc. I saw the tile you used at Floor and Decorated it’s a great marble alternative, but am concerned about the polished tiles being slippery. How has it worked out for you?

    1. Totally fine!! Talk to the people there as I had the same concern. My tiles are narrow so the grout lines prevent slipping.
