Deck the Halls 2018 {Exterior & Foyer}

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!!  If you’re joining me from the Holiday Home Tour hosted by 11 Magnolia Lane and Evolution of Style and sponsored by Lynch Creek Farm, welcome.  I’m delighted you’re here!  You can learn more about me and this little piece of the internet HERE.

We’ve decked the halls in ribbons and bows and twinkly lights and all that glitters.  I cannot wait to welcome y’all into our home over the next week.  For today, let’s start with the exterior and foyer.

I love white lights, garlands and big red bows so much at Christmas.  I can usually go 2-3 years with my ribbons before they fade and must be replaced.  This was a new bow year so everything is so wonderfully red.

See my easy technique for bows in this video >>  How to Make Christmas Bows  and how to hang your wreaths in this post >> 2 Easy Ways to Hang Christmas Wreaths.

I assembled monogrammed wreaths for four of our exterior entry doors a few years ago and they are still going strong.  See how I made it and get links to the products used here >> Holiday Monogram Wreath

Rather than fighting with my half dead ferns or struggling with pansies, this year I invested in beautiful urn fillers from Grandin Road.  They are lit by batteries at night and are really beautiful.

I use pre-lit garlands from Costco outside.  Four years later and they are all still working!  I used to struggle with lighting them myself so it is still a joy to pull these out and plug them in each year.

The side entry gets its own garland and monogrammed wreath.

And, the friend’s entry does as well!  The sun was so harsh when I took these photos.

No door is left undressed!  Finally, the porch door.

Now, y’all come on in!

My favorite piece of Christmas in the entry every year is the boys’ Santa picture.  I think it is such a fun way to greet our visitors this time of the year.  This frame was my one purchase from the Magnolia line at Target.

I’ve had the glittery Santa for years and usually put him here on some of my mom’s antique books, surrounded by little trees.

I decided to leave the burlap table skirt out after Halloween because I think it goes better with my Christmas decor.   The “everyday” skirt is right under it!

I loved bringing out the Christmas shades hand painted by my mother again this year.  You can read all about them here >> Christmas Lamp Shades

The garland here in the entry continues the traditional red and green Christmas colors from outside.

I purchased this one years ago from Hobby Lobby because I loved all of the berries, pinecones and different types of greenery.  I add pheasant feathers and a few additional greenery pieces to dress it up even more.

Thank you so much for coming by today for the kickoff of my holiday home posts.  To continue the tour, hop over to Summer Adams next!  And, you can see all the participants that will be posting over the coming days below.

  1. Everything is so welcoming and festive! I love the new pot fillers – that’s a fantastic idea! xo

  2. I love your home with all the wonderful wreaths in the windows and your monogram wreaths for each door are stunning. The garland up your staircase in the entry is such a favorite and those feathers totally put it over the top. Beautiful post.

  3. Amanda, my jaw is on the floor! The outside of your home could be in a movie! It’s the picture-perfect Christmas home and oh so dreamy! And the inside is just beautiful and elegant. What a beautiful job you’ve done! So glad to do this with you and get to know you and see your home! xoxo

  4. From one colonial home owner to another, would it be Christmas without a wreath in every window? I think not! I love your classic style, Amanda. Everything is simply gorgeous. Merry Christmas!

  5. Your home is breathtaking, Amanda! My jaw literally dropped when I scrolled to the photos of your exterior! So, so well done, my friend! It is fun being “on tour” with you this week!

  6. When I designed for a big box chain, I loved working with traditional colors and feathers. I always thought it was a classic look and slid nicely from Thanksgiving to the Holidays with a change of ribbon berries. Lovely home and you are all set!
