Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party & Tony’s Most Merriest Town Square Party

If you followed along on Instagram this past weekend, you likely saw that along with Sister’s family and my parents, we descended on Walt Disney World to soak up all of the holiday cheer!

There were so many “best moments ever”, but Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party was an absolutely highlight for all 10 of us.  We entered the park in phases (a key to Disney with large parties is don’t feel like you have to be together ALL the time) and met up around 5:00 to kick off the fun together.

While all of the parks have stepped up their game in recent years, in my opinion, Magic Kingdom is the epitome of Christmas magic.  My crew arrived just in time to see the flag retreat, which I highly recommend seeing if you can.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

If you’re entering the park for the party, it is key to veer right as soon as you pass Tony’s Town Square.  There are tons of photo opps and you can only get the Santa Mickey cookie in this location.

The cookie was so good, but left me parched.  The frozen coke with candy straw was the perfect cool treat to wash it down.  Yum!!  This is available all day long right now at The Lunching Pad.

The Christmas treats don’t start for the party until 6:45, so we used our time to do as many rides as we could.  Crowds were extremely light and we didn’t see a line more than 15 minutes all night.  The only bummer was that Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was down the entire time – it happens!  The cousins loved being in the park together, and the adults had a great time being kids.

As the sun sets on Magic Kingdom, Elsa lights Cinderella Castle in the most magical manner.  Snow starts gently falling on Main Street and the entire place is a true winter wonderland.

Tony’s Most Merriest Town Square Party

Tony’s Most Merriest Town Square Party is new in 2018. Knowing that we had such a large group and that Mother and Daddy-O would be done with walking and park touring long before the clock strikes midnight, Sister and I treated the group to this party within a party for my dad’s 70th birthday.  He’s really hard to buy for and this ended up being such a wonderful, memorable addition to our trip!!!   We are SO glad that we did it because we hemmed and hawed about it – and exchanged about 1,000 texts – before just booking it.

Get set to indulge in a delicious offering of savory hors d’oeuvres, succumb to tempting treats and share a toast with family and friends with a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant. Plus, take advantage of reserved viewing for Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade within Main Street, U.S.A.
The host venue, a charming turn-of-the-century Italian trattoria, provides a fun, festive setting and a beautiful view of the activity in Town Square. It’s the perfect perch to enjoy holiday-themed décor, entertainment, refreshments and spreads boasting a variety of hot and cold nibbles like charcuterie, Tony’s famous meatballs and delicious mini desserts.

Tony’s Town Square restaurant was festively dressed for the occasion.  We found the bars easily accessible and almost no waits for drinks.  We arrived right around 9:30 when it started and it was pretty crowded – we could hardly find tables.  But… it cleared out by 9:50.  The food was good and plentiful and very easily made up dinner for us.

But, the highlight of the night was our interactions with Tony.  He was absolutely hysterical.  (John and CeeCee not pictured, but both were in attendance.)

Tony made the rounds interacting with all of his guests.  He must moonlight as a comedian.  The most hysterical thing was when he started loudly singing to CeeCee and she didn’t even crack an eyelid.  He proclaimed this her “most expensive nap ever”.  Truth!  Sister got videos of the whole thing… that went on for quite a while… and CeeCee loved watching them the next morning.

Once Upon a Christmastime Parade

The Tony’s party was come and go as much as you like from 9:30 – midnight.  In addition to the food, drinks and Tony himself, party guests also had the most prime spot reserved for viewing of the 11:00 parade!

As much as I love seeing Anna and Elsa in their horse drawn sleigh and Cinderella in her glass coach pulled by six miniature white ponies, it is always the toy soldiers, reindeer and Santa that make me cry all the happy Christmas tears!

We head down for this Christmas party every year the weekend between the boys’ birthdays.  This was the first time we had the whole O family together, and it was simply magical.  Mother and Daddy-O instilled the magic and wonder of Disney in us as little girls – making it a regular stop in the vacation rotation.  It was pretty incredible to have the original 4 pack up to 10!

  1. Dear Amanda,
This was the best Christmas/Birthday gift ever! We loved it!
So many wonderful memories too! You know there is always one thing that stands out in our adventures together. This year it might be CeeCee sleeping through all the craziness at Tony’s! Love, Marme

  2. How wonderful! Your mother’s comment touches me, as there is always that family memory that stands out and it reminds me of happy times with my own.

The parade reindeer are fabulous! You greatly captured the magic.

    Happy belated birthday, Daddy O!
May God bless all of you this Christmas and in the new year.

    Jane

    1. I know! When they realized they were riding together, it was hysterical. They were fraternity brothers and friends for years before my sis or I came into the pic. <3
