Week 2 {A Kitchen Update}

Last week was a busy week of sanding, priming and painting! The crew took the doors and drawers off site to their workshop at the beginning of the week. Then, our entire kitchen area was taped and tented to do the frames and island.

The colors selected were Benjamin Moore Decorators White for the cabinets and Stonybrook on the island. The finish is satin.

I chose polished nickel for the hardware this time. Here were my considerations…

  • I went with all handle pulls to avoid knobs getting all twisted up.
  • I wanted something that did not have pieces that stuck out on the ends of the pulls to catch clothing. I learned that the hard way with our old pulls.
  • I wanted something that came in a variety of lengths so I could do smaller pulls on smaller drawers and larger pulls on larger drawers.
  • I ordered enough to do the faux drawer fronts under the stove and island sink this time. They did not have any hardware previously.

We are really excited about these changes. We had an unrelated plumbing issue that has set us back a few days in the timeline now. I LOVE old house plumbing. NOT!

  1. Wow, the island makes such a dramatic difference! It’s going to be beautiful! xo

  2. I am local in Atlanta (Alpharetta). Who did you use for your cabinet painting? Are you pleased with them? We are beginning down that path. My current cabinets are very similar to your previous version.
    Did you do research on latex vs oil vs enamel paints and their longevity with cabinets?
