Easy Dinners (When you don’t have a Sink or Stove)

We are in the very home stretch of our kitchen update and I thought I’d share what we ate without having a sink or a stove. This is not earth shattering, by any means. But we had some decent meals that we ate on rotation. After trying a LOT of these types of meals, here were the top 5. We kept coming back to them because they were good and budget friendly compared to eating out.

Costco Chicken Tacos

This kit from Costco is fantastic! We will continue to get this even with a kitchen for a great week night meal. I think it is $16 and we had enough leftover for my lunch the next day.

Fish in Parchment from Fresh Market

Fresh Market was a gold mine! Our favorite, that we had many times over the course of the last 3 weeks, were fish in parchment. They always have a variety of options of fish with different flavorings and veggies cut inside. This was salmon with squash.

Chicken Pot Pies

Daddy-O swears that Marie Callender’s are the best and, as a girl who usually makes her own, these were awfully good! I wish the crust to filling ratio was a little more even, but they were a hit in a pinch.

Stouffer’s Lasagna and Pretzel Bread

Daddy-O had his best suggestion for the list and Mother’s was this – Stouffer’s lasagna. I served it with a buttered pretzel bread from the freezer case and it was quite good!

BBQ on the Big Green Egg

This is a favorite with or without a fully functioning kitchen!

In addition to these, we did a lot of salad in a bags to which I would add the Perdue already prepared grilled chicken or sliced honey turkey from the deli.

Feel free to share any of your tried and true favorites in the comments!

  1. When we renovated our kitchen, we found that Stouffer’s makes great mini meatloaves which can be cooked in the microwave or the oven. They have a delicious gravy that goes well with premade mashed potatoes from the dairy case and a steamed veggie or salad. This is one of the meals that I still keep in my back pocket for crazy weeknights. Can’t wait to see your finished kitchen- love the progress so far!!

  2. Making a note of these as we are about to renovate our kitchen! We won’t have an oven so I guess I need to invest in a toaster oven!

  3. thank you so much for sharing!!! i’ve always wondered about which would be the best frozen meals to get but then never know which one i should get. so helpful! will def be picking these up for those days i just dont feel like cooking haha! sometimes i will use my slow cooker and do a buffalo chicken cheese dip and have some tortilla chips with it and that is always a hit! i just get the recipe off pinterest! xoxox

    1. I’m so glad this was helpful! Sometimes we just need an easy meal. When I don’t feel like cooking it’s usually cereal. Haha!

  4. We have no stove, sink, or oven but I have been able to cook things in pans on the grill outside. I made Costco potstickers out there one night and tofu in Trader Joe’s curry another. I am just so happy the neighbors can’t see me doing this as the old appliances sitting on our front porch are embarrassing enough. Thank goodness the new ones will be delivered today. If I ever do this again, I will for sure buy a toaster oven.
