Summer in the Den

I don’t usually change up decor seasonally outside of my big 3 holidays – July 4th on the porch and Halloween and Christmas everywhere in the house inside and out. Since we are traveling this Independence Day, my practical side won over and I decided not to decorate the porch and whole exterior this year. Instead, I added a few subtle nautical and patriotic touches to the den to enjoy over the next couple of months.

I dug the boat on the mantle out of the storage room downstairs. I thought I remembered Honey had it tucked away with some of his dad’s things and it was sweet to bring it out after so many years. We are going to move it to one of the boy’s rooms next.

I got new pillow covers for the pillows on the sofa and chairs from Everyday Occasions. I’ve had the coral blanked for years and years (like 10+)!

Over at the banquette, I put out the Vineyard Vines for Target puzzle! I didn’t go and shop the sale, but ran in the last day of school and bought it on a whim. Y’all know we love puzzles and use them year after year. I didn’t have a patriotic one so it was a good addition. I actually did the whole thing by myself one night last weekend. :-)

I have hydrangeas cut from our yard on the coffee table. Our other shell accents are out year round.

I hope your summer is off to a great start! I’m running out the door to make a carpool run from lacrosse practice to pool party. To be a kid again!

  1. It looks great, Amanda! I kept thinking about those same pillows but went with a shells and leaf motif this summer. It goes with our British Colonial look but I’ll still do the usual outside. I LOVE your special boat!! Have a great adventure! Happy summer! 🌻🐸🍉

  2. Looks very nice. I also use chinoiserie touches around the house and have a pair of foo dog bookends that I was thinking of converting to lamps. I noticed your foo dog lamp in the background and wondered if it was always a lamp or if you did a conversion as well. Safe travels for the 4th!

    1. Thank you! I bought the lamp like that but I’m sure it was converted before I purchased! My mom has had quite a few things like that turned into lamps.

  3. What is the source for your coffee table? We have casually been looking for a new one and I just love that one!
