Elsa Tales {Frosty Paws for the Dog Days of Summer}

We’re in the throes of the dog days of summer here in Atlanta. It’s so unbearably hot that even Elsa Belle lies around lethargic, pausing her relentless mission to chase down every squirrel, chipmunk and lizard in the yard. While she absolutely loves Frosty Paws, they don’t frequently make it into the shopping buggy. When I was perusing Pinterest a while back, I jotted down a quick 3 ingredient recipe for homemade Frosty Paws (it was a dead link – just the recipe) and knew it was the perfect week to oversee Whit making them!

Homemade Frosty Paws – Ice Cream Treats for Dogs

  • 2 cups plain yogurt
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter
  • 1 ripe banana

Dump everything in the food processor and turn it on until well blended and smooth.

We used part of the mix in a Mickey shaped ice cube tray (not pictured). For the rest, we used Oreo cookie molds. (I’ve used them for many things over the years and find them pretty versatile. I have two.) Small Milk Bones made for cute toppers and a very special treat.

Once filled, place the molds in the freezer to harden. The next day, I took them out and let them sit on the counter just for a minute or two before popping them out. I put them back in the freezer in a zip top bag for storage.

The plate is Happy Everything with the bone mini attachment. My exact plate is discontinued, I think. This small dot is a newer version.

As much as she wanted one, I made her wait until Whit got home from school to let her try her new ice cream. She loves it!

You can find the other treats we make her (occasionally) here:

Hope y’all are staying cool out there….
