Essential Oil Storage + Other Odds and Ends

I don’t talk about it often, but it’s been about a year since my friend Ashley introduced me to essential oils and they are a part of daily life around here now. I clean with them, diffuse them and use them both topically and internally at times. I thought I’d share how I store them today!

Storing Essential Oils

I’ve amassed quite a collection since Ashley sent me my starter kit. Most were purchased when Doterra does BOGO promotions, which has been a wonderful way to stock up and also be encouraged to try new things! I purchased this case last year and love it. I keep it under my bathroom sink and pull it out daily. (affiliate link)

Deep Blue Rub

Another thing I’ve been meaning to share is their deep blue rub. I used this a LOT while training for my half marathon in January and it was wonderful. Lately, I’ve had to use it on my arm and shoulder since I’ve been dabbling in tennis with Whit. Ha! This old body is using long retired muscles.

Diffuser Cleaning

Finally, I recently cleaned my most used diffusers. Ashley has tips for this in the highlights part of her Instagram stories. I run the glass one during the day and then pour out the remaining water at the end of the day and let it air dry. I run the smaller one in our bedroom at night and do the same thing to let it air dry during the day. However, I still do her “deep clean” every few months. Speaking of the glass diffuser, I always get questions about where I found it. My parents purchased it in the pharmacy section of their Sam’s a few months ago.

Funny enough, as I was typing this Ashley got on Facebook live with a doterra flash sale! Go check it out.

And, finally, if you have any favorite diffuser blends or other great ways you use essential oils feel free to share!

  1. Have you tried the oils from Magic Candle Company? They aren’t actual essential oils but they are Disney scents. The Yacht and Beach Club ones are SPOT ON. I ordered the beach club first and put it in my diffuser. I called everyone in my family into the living room one at a time and asked them to guess what it was. All three of them got it right the first time! It may not have any health benefits, but it makes us happy! I also have pineapple whip, banshee flight, pirate life and A few more but those are my favorites. I first heard about them on the Dis Unplugged podcast. I even buy them for gifts now for my friends that I know would appreciate them and they all love them just as much as we do.

    1. I haven’t but I see them every now and then and think about it. Thank you so much for letting me know how great they are!!

    1. Ashley recommends running a mixture of vinegar and water through your diffuser for 5 minutes. Then, you wipe down everything you can, using a q-tip where needed.

  2. It’s not a good idea to ingest essential oils, ever. Long term use can cause liver damage. Of course, the company that sells them to you wants you to use them as much as they can so you will buy more.
